Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

bulldog courage is writing new stuff, we need YOUR help!

shaneBDC - 2-16-2010 at 10:43 PM

so we have been writing some new stuff and it's coming along great, but we were wondering what anybody who has the heartache to hatred record thinks of it, like songs you like, songs you don't like and what not. so far the new stuff we have written is pretty awesome a little harder maybe but still punk rock driven. also if anybody has heard or owns the broken heroes of the worlds demise seven inch. let us know what ya think of that as well. thanks.

barc0debaby - 2-16-2010 at 11:43 PM

I got the digital download and there were no song names, so tracks 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 is what I really liked on it. Sing along type shit that I can holler on the way to work. Songs that aint about loyalty or betrayal are also tops in my book, I think the I made shitty choices of friends horse has been beat to death in this genre.

Can't wait to hear the new songs and good luck with everything. Ya'll kick ass!

quick thread detour...
did you buy that from the thorp store?
ours should have with number/named files as well as full ID3 tags.

I will repeat myself in this one, but what the hell...

I own the CD (just got another 9 copies to distribute among my friends; Duane, Andy - thanks!) and the new ep. Flawless records. Well, maybe I'd change one thing... I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that BDC sounds better when the production and the sound is not too clean. I think the less clean production, the better. I think I like your vocals on the demo better, they're more rough. So, keep punk dirty!

Everything but that punk rock princess song pretty much ruled.

I believe so, the download was from merchnow. This was back in September.

I really like the whole album, but 'Punk Rock Princess' and 'Where Ive Been' are my favorites.

I love the drum parts that are done on the floor tom (like Step Down by SOIA) kinda reminds me of a 2-step kinda dance part. In Punk Rock Princess I love the parts on the crash cymbals insted of playing it on a hi-hat or ride.

Awesome record!

necrobutcher - 2-17-2010 at 04:03 PM

The standout songs for me are Where I've Been, American Stormtrooper, Old Friends Die Hard, The City Bleeds and Blood & Whiskey.

There are only song on the album I'm not into is ...And Money On The Bar.

I will agree with Mike in that I prefer the versions of songs on the demo as compared with this one. I think the more raw production fits your voice better.

Oh yeah, the faster the better. The world needs more fast hardcore.

JawnDiablo - 2-17-2010 at 04:24 PM

the LP is solid all the way through.
I also liked the vocals better on the demo version of Old Friends..
more of the F word in there.
aside from that, i don't know anything about yous.
how long have you guys been at it?

mike_ - 2-17-2010 at 04:44 PM

Oh Shane, I almost forgot... I didn't like the fact that you didn't include the lyrics in the cd and ep. Big mistake. Please make sure it doesn't happen again!

write about flowers and lollipops

Just keep doing what you're doing. Write about what you know and feel and the rest will follow. Just keep growing and taking risks. (do I sound cliché yet?) But it's true, try too hard and you'll lose what made you want to play in the first place. Let the songs write themselves.

It just seemed like it didn't fit on the album to me. It wasn't like one of those departure songs like Young Punks in Love on Ugly and Proud, where it's clearly a more light hearted topic that doesn't jive with the rest of the album but somehow fits...this one just seemed awkward to me.

I'm totally not saying they should be all tough tough tough hard hard every second either. It's just the only song I skip every time I listen to the album...other than that it's 100% solid front to back.

DaveMoral - 2-18-2010 at 12:01 AM

I just bought the digital download on iTunes today. Awesome record. I do like the dirtier sound on the demo though. Still, I like it all the way through. American Stormtrooper is a highlight for me.

barc0debaby - 2-19-2010 at 10:04 AM

Just listened to Broken Heroes, if the new record songs like that its going to be one of the years best.

mike_ - 2-22-2010 at 10:20 AM

Shane (or anyone else), how and where can I get hold of any Only Revenge release? Are there any out there at all?
