XHonusWagnerX - 3-6-2010 at 12:54 PM

Question....

How do you shave your head... Clippers? Razor? If you use a razor how do you avoid ingrown hairs and other shit like that?

I use clippers and I still get red bumps that suck and feel gross. What am I doing wrong?

panzerkreuzer - 3-6-2010 at 01:20 PM

i donīt shave wet, only with the machine. so i have 0,3 mm left and no risk of anything.

JawnDiablo - 3-6-2010 at 01:46 PM

i used clippers with no attachment when i shaved mine

I bic that shit, shaving cream and a razor does me just fine. Can't say there's any real difference between how I shave my scalp versus my face.

lifeisabitch - 3-6-2010 at 02:46 PM

clippers no guard
I don't have time to bic
I used to use a head blade but still really no time for that shit...

morgan - 3-6-2010 at 02:46 PM

Cut it down as short as I can with clippers and then take a razor to it.

Same here. The only thing I have to watch out for is a mole that cuts easily.

I use a Remmington rotary blade shaver.

XHonusWagnerX - 3-6-2010 at 09:46 PM

ok... so why do I have these little bumps that I am drawn to pick at?

Im using clippers with no guard.

morgan - 3-7-2010 at 02:52 AM

Did you just recently shave your head? If you hadn't shaved it before your scalp probably just isn't used to it.

I have done it before, but not that often... so you might be right.

barc0debaby - 3-7-2010 at 01:00 PM

Slap some hydrogen peroxide on your freshly shaved dome.

Dave - 3-8-2010 at 01:53 PM

clippers no guard most time, sometimes, the shortest one.

gavin - 3-8-2010 at 02:48 PM

gavin is pretty much on top of things here. using a guard or having someone else do it for you will probably work better, but neither is necessary. go gently with no guard (make sure you've oiled the clippers - and go slowly) and you should be fine on your own. you might get some slight irritation, but just avoid the instinct to scratch and it will go away in a day or two.

I have it done at like Super Cuts or something cause I cant do it myself and dont have anyone that can. maybe I should have it done with the smallest guard on it... I hate to have it not done as short as possible though.

tireironsaint - 3-9-2010 at 03:39 AM

Only thing I can think of is that the clippers may be too dull or overheating, I vaguely remember those issues from waaaaayyyy back in the day when I used some old beat up clippers that had never seen a drop of oil and had been tossed down a few times too many. If these aren't new clippers you're using, I would recommend throwing down the 25 to 20 bucks it'll cost you to get a decent one and make sure you take good care of 'em and oil them every time you use 'em. Of course, that's only if you plan on continuing to cut your own hair, no sense in throwing down cash for something if you aren't gonna keep using it.

Dave - 3-9-2010 at 09:19 AM

i've been using the same clippers for well over a decade now, as long as you oil them after every use, you should be fine.

It might be your clippers.

XHonusWagnerX - 3-9-2010 at 09:20 AM

that sucks because that means its the clippers at the shop I go to and I cant control them. : (

gavin - 3-9-2010 at 12:04 PM

josh ya gotta do it yo self
