Is there some trick to getting tracks in their proper order? I have a few albums that have all the tracks numbered in order, but they appear out of
order. They're labeled properly in both my music folder as well as on itunes.

highlight the song, hold command+i go to song info and edit anything. I almost always change the genre classification.
