Doc Martin 8 eye steel toe

XHonusWagnerX - 3-12-2010 at 04:20 PM

I want to get a pair of Docs and my work will pay up to $100 (I can pay the different) for safety shoes and I can get new ones in 3 weeks.

I want what I know as 8 Eyelet Black Greasy boots. Does anyone know if these come in steel toe? I dont want them to have the 'work boot' style padded cuff at the top, I want a kind of classic doc martin boot.

Anyway know the cheapest place to look?

gavin - 3-12-2010 at 04:24 PM

im pretty sure you can only get 10s in steel capped deal

we get the shoemobile in April, but were also allowed to buy our own and they will reimburse us up to $100.

Thanks for the info Gavin... I'll have to try and decide what I wanna get now. Sucks that work will only pay for steel toe

okay so question...
I know docs are good...
but what is the best shoe for being on your feet for up to 16 hours a day everyday...
light weight and doesn't have to be a boot,
but good damn i need something better than vans...

THe new NIKE LUNAR shoes. I just got em and they weight next to nothing and freaking comfortable.

Mine are just like these, but have light grey where this is orange. If you get em at FINISH LINE or DICKS you can get a $10 coupon from there website. They ran me $75 but they are so freaking comfortable.

^^^^^^^^ My to earlier posts are for your inquiry. The 2 above posts about the shoes.

JawnDiablo - 3-12-2010 at 10:47 PM

i have heard rockports are comfortable.

lifeisabitch - 3-12-2010 at 10:50 PM

thanks man
I have never worn a pair of nikes in my life...
never could afford them as a kid and not into them as an adult...

but I am thinking i want to get away from the tennis shoe market
and get into a pair of shoes that are an investment

as the sole wears down you can take them and get them repaired...
instead of just letting them go to hell

Vanilla Gorilla - 3-13-2010 at 12:35 AM

Timberland shoes are great, feels like your wearing sneakers and they last forever.

BDx13 - 3-13-2010 at 12:40 AM

rockports are the shit.
i have a pair, i love em.
not really my style (that sort of dress up sneaker look), but they are mad comfortable.

before my computer jobs, i used to wear new balance if i had to stand all day. like walking on air.

i can't say any docs i've ever owned were comfortable. my gripfast are reasonable, but with the massive soles and the steel caps and being a size 13, each one weighs like 4 pounds. you know it when you take them motherfuckers off!

JawnDiablo - 3-13-2010 at 01:25 PM

ha yeah my steel docs add a few lbs to m weight

For a good boot, try Red Wings.

New Balance are great. I am also partial to Mizuno as well

anyone know what the difference is between these

and the ones Gavin posted...

I've always found doc's to be the best thing for working long hours.

One of my ex jobs was 54 hours a week,i started out wearing a pair of DC's But they lasted about a week (They fell to pieces) So i thought fuck it i'll wear my doc's,which lasted 2 years, and they also kept my feet in a good condition.

BDx13 - 3-14-2010 at 12:16 PM

the first one has a skull laser etched into the side of it...
and the 1919's:
Inspired by our industrial work boots, this fashion steel-toe collection from Dr. Martens carries all of the attitude, without the additional specifications required for heavy work.

JawnDiablo - 3-14-2010 at 12:28 PM

this pair of docs my work paid for is without a doubt the best pair of shoes i ever owned.
very comfy and they don't make me feet stink.

I definitly dont want a skull on the side of the boot!

But whats up with the 2nd one? I dont see what you typed in the description. Are they steel toe or do they 'look like steel toe'?

i didn't look, but i think i know the issue.

there are "industrial" steel toes (i think it's "ansi" rated, but i might have the acronym wrong). those are legit for jobs that require a steel toe for safety reasons. "fashion" steel toes have not been ansi approved. not sure if that means they meet a lower standard or just didn't pay for approval.

the ansi steel toes often have that padded collar at the top of the boot.

also, i'm pretty sure i had some 8-eye docs without the padded collar and with a steel toe... but maybe i'm wrong.

barc0debaby - 3-14-2010 at 06:32 PM

I love my caterpillar boots.

XHonusWagnerX - 4-1-2010 at 06:30 PM

Does Dr. Marten make a legit safety steel toe 10 eye boot?

random - 4-1-2010 at 06:52 PM

looks to me like this 7-eye is the closest you'll get to a legit ANSI 8- or 10-eye from DM: http://www.drmartens.com/ProductDetail.asp?PID=12554001

unless you find old stock, here's the list of current men's "industrial" (i.e. men's ANSI approved): http://www.drmartens.com/ProductList.asp?Story=industrialmen...

XHonusWagnerX - 4-1-2010 at 08:50 PM

thanks Random...

Has anyone seen the 7 eyes in person? Its hard to tell in the pics, but they look like they are a standard 'combat boot' style. I dont know if they being only 7 eyelets high makes them look a lot more like a standard workboot though.

wez138 - 4-1-2010 at 11:01 PM

I've only ever had these:

So i aint got a clue about 7 eyes....

But do you mean these?
