file this under, "Gee, after a decade, we're finally starting to get the fucking point."
wasn't it victory/tony that said some shit like "itunes killed the album"? good riddance, for the most part. it's like joe rogan says about internet
streams of the UFC (on the actual UFC broadcast as a commentator), "you can't stop the internet."
there's good and bad about internet downloading, but it's nice to see that at least one major label - not that i can think of anything i listen to on
any major label - finally understands that the old pricing system simply isn't feasible any more. you can't offset downloads with higher prices,
since the higher prices just convince honest people not to buy at all.
while i'm not a fan of the 360 contracts that have been discussed on here before, there will need to be some new arrangements made so that record
labels can recoup - and even make a profit - off of their investments in recordings.
since i'm rambling, i did an interview recently with the operator of a very small "scene" label and was surprised at how much he invests into each
release... just recording and "paying" the band via a certain allotment of copies. it's gotta be hard for him to recoup his investment, which
prevents even more releases. makes me wonder how thorp/sgr are finding the funds to do this new flood of releases... but i'm happy they are. lifeisabitch - 3-18-2010 at 05:19 PM

Universal to release music worth buying would have been better.

on a side note. Fuck all those stores in the mall that sell cd's for $19.99 WHO IN THE FUCK BUYS A NEW RELEASE CD that much?
Back to the topic at hand. This is about fucking time. Hopefully they see the potential profit they can finally make when people go back to buying in
the stores again. Or at the very least buying something tangible like a disc and not some file from itunes.
