Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

tv... it's what i do when i'm not here

random - 3-18-2010 at 05:19 PM

been watching a lot of House on justin.tv. found a station that shows stern recently, so honus and gavin will be jealous!

other great shit i've recently re-discovered...

tosh.0 - this is the funniest show i've ever seen
it's always sunny in philadelphia - curb your enthusiasm, but funny
the shield - finally finished it again!
the wire - might have to start from the beginning, again
chappelle show - best thing on comedy central until tosh.0

need to start at the beginning of dexter, since i only got into it thi season at the recommendation of people on here.

any catch "the pacific" on hbo? should have started this week. same people made it that made "band of brothers," which was fucking amazing.

lifeisabitch - 3-18-2010 at 05:20 PM

I started the pacific last night
I never watched band of brothers but I'm about to go get them all

XnMeX - 3-18-2010 at 05:24 PM

Watching Tosh.0, Sarah Silverman Program and LOST

Waiting for Flashforward to return (TONIGHT!) and "V" to return (Next week).

Thatr is about it. Still need to watch the latest season of Dexter.

band of brothers is fantastic. i occasionally see the main guy's book at airports, and it's really hard not to pick it up. but i get obsessed with these things, and it would be a huge distraction given how long it would take to finish the book.

you can order the complete series of band of brothers on amazon. i don't know the price, but a friend let me borrow it after i had foot surgery and was stuck on the counch. it's basically a 20-hour WWII movie where you somehow never get bored while watching it. amazing.

the pacific ep 1 was really good, looking forward for the rest.

Band of brothers completely blow me away,i must of watched the whole boxset at least 5-6 times back to back when i first stole it. Even David Swimmer is great in it,which is remarkable considering what a sniveling slick back haired dork he is.

I used to watch house while i was at work (care home) mid afternoon it was always on channel 5 at 1:30pm and would tie in great as by that time we'd all finished our work for the day and some would spend the last hour chatting about make-up or what shit food they was gonna cook while i sat next to a really nice lady called Ada and we'd watch house together and laugh our heads off (Ada was a gem,she had a dark sense of humour so we got on like a house on fire made of paper and had no fire alarms in sight) I found the first season in a charity shop and paid £5 for it (bonus) it's normally priced around £20 to £25 per season,I watched it back to back in two days and always wanted some amazing medical condition to pop up at work so i could waltz in like Dr Gregory and diagnose said condition then charmingly be-rate everyone who had no clue what it was....It never happened.

Oh does anyone watch black adder? If not it has Hugh Laurie in from house and is one of the finest British comedy's
try and watch black adder goes forth if you've not seen it or heard of it..Amazing parody on the 2nd world war.

I watch Chuck, LOST, and a bunch of sitcoms. Oh yeah, and Caprica. Been watching Caprica on Hulu.com. If you liked BSG and are interested in how the Cylons came to be, it might be your show. More family drama than space military drama though. Still cool.

I just rewatched the Band of Brothers series. It's amazing. Pacific is going to be great. I've just started watching Rescue Me. This show is great. FX has some great shows on it.

honus - www.justin.tv is basically the live streaming version of youtube. also, i love the office but forgot to mention it before. also, check your u2u.

wez - never watched black adder, but was tempted to pick it up when zaavi went out of business. didn't realize hugh laurie was in it, which makes me more interested in watching it now.

mike - i've always heard good things about rescue me but never remember to check it out.

i caught an episode of breaking bones recently. looks interesting. has the dad from malcolm in the middle as a high school chemistry teacher that starts cooking meth.

I LOVE Black Adder. I used to have the whole series on dvd but some bastard stole it. Rowan Atkinson's finest work in my opinion. I love a lot of shows from the U.K. The Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, Father Ted, Thin Blue Line, Bottom, The Office, The New Statesman, Are You Being Served, Yes Prime Minister, the list goes on and on.

if you like English comedy then check out Peep Show.
i will continue to plug this show for all eternity.

also, this new Chris Morris film looks incredible. It's gonna get a HUGE backlash as it's about 4 young Muslims living in the UK who decide to become suicide bombers. And it's a comedy.
I can already see the field day all the Sun/Mail readers will have with this one!

Morris is something special... as the good reverend knows, his other shows The Day Today and Brasseye are comedy genius. Very dark, surreal humour in places that often upsets a lot of people. Brasseye and Jam in particular.

as for tv shows in general..
The Wire goes without saying. I think I've watched it all the way through about 4 times now and there is still little details i pick up each time.
Generation Kill is brilliant as well. Really looking forward to the new
Brotherhood is a great show. I think it was some of you on this board that put me onto that.

As for older shows, I love Twin Peaks. Even the second season.
Northern Exposure is a solid favourite too, kinda like Twin Peaks without all the dark shit.

that was fucking funny.
i'd be a bit concerned for those actors, though.
