How cool is this?

Props to Toby Morse.

always an inspiration.

As cool as this is it bums me out that it took a "celebrity" to brig sXe to schools. Years ago I wrote letters to schools, poletitions & anyone else I could think of and never got any response at all.

I also don't like the potential that sXe be connected to any of the acronym gangs when it comes to young kids cause that can scare parents off from the whole thing.

I do REALLY want that PMA hat he's wearing though!!

Well, our culture is such that it takes either celebrity or government to get things like this moving. Though, Toby just had it organized I think. He's barely famous, and that only mostly within the hardcore/punk scene.

Also, while I would share your concern regarding Toby's association with DMS and thus the connection that can be drawn to straight edge and that via him... I don't think it's there. In fact, that sort of plays into the inspirational factor with what the guy is doing because his friends are DMS. How many inner city kids are going to have friends in gangs or gang-like activities that can relate directly to Toby's situation?

I'm not sure how effective his thing would be in alot of suburban or rural schools. Cities though? Without doubt, tons of power there.

I'd say it probably won't do shit in rural schools. Getting fucked up is about the only fun thing to do out there.

You're right... I'm sure that Toby put A LOT more effort into this project than I ever did and I am glad that its something even if it doesnt work at least hes trying.

It seems like 99% of the time when sXe is on TV or in the news its negative stuff so this is a nice change!

^Totally, I'd be happy to see this get some press. Seems like right now it's just Toby's site and him promoting it on Facebook and MySpace. He's got to do the presentation at more schools yet, so cool though.

Wish I would have thought of it.

CM Punk is spreading the virtues of sXe on WWE tv every week.:P:thumbup:

DaveMoral - 4-14-2010 at 08:02 PM

^Oh yeah, I forgot about that guy. I was in a KMart one day, don't ask it has to do with being a nerd, and I saw these WWE toy CM Punk hard wraps complete with Xs. And then there's the action figures. I think that's pretty cool, despite the fact that I loathe WWE and other such forms of wrestling entertainment.

Discipline - 4-14-2010 at 09:32 PM

The nice thing is that CM Punk actually is sXe, as opposed to just using it as a gimmick.

Ever see the wrestler Josh Prohibition that wore a hockey mask?

XnMeX - 4-15-2010 at 07:40 AM

In a local wrestling league around here we have a wrestler that goes by "STRAIGHT EDGE BRIAN FURY" and X's up.
