Was fucking awesome! Go see it!DaveMoral - 4-17-2010 at 08:32 PM
Agreed. Some significant departures from the book, but since Millar and Romita Jr were exec producers I have a feeling that those departures may have
been partially their ideas.
Insanely fun, insanely funny, insanely violent. Though, violence wise, tame compared to the book and tame compared to movies like Kill Bill and Ninja
Assassin. Violence along those lines, just not nearly as graphic. By the "controversy" you'd think it was though.
Hit Girl is awesome.XnMeX - 4-17-2010 at 11:15 PM
Yeah, They pulled off Hit Girl VERY well! I was afraid she was either A) going to be toned down ALOT more and / or B) She would come off as just
corny. NEITHER was the case. Nic Cage was hilarious and the father / daughter conection / story line was played very well.morgan - 4-18-2010 at 12:00 AM
Saw this last night. Definitely enjoyed it.DaveMoral - 4-18-2010 at 11:42 AM
I usually hate Nic Cage with a passion... but I think he was perfect for this one. At least the way it was played. I don't think he could've been Big
Daddy if it were toned with less humor like the book.
I was surprised they didn't give us the twists that the book does, but I can see why and I wasn't disappointed by them at all. I don't want to spoil
either the book or the movie for anyone, so I'm not going to go there.Dave - 4-18-2010 at 04:03 PM

Yeah, I wanna see it again. Have you checked out the comic books?
Here is a download link for the comic but you need a CBR (Comic Book Reader) to view it.
I sat and read the hardcover collection Thursday at Borders. Such a great comic, way more brutal than the movie I have to say.XHonusWagnerX - 4-18-2010 at 07:44 PM
I read the comic, but missed issue #7... the comic shop I go to is suposed to get me a copy soon though,barc0debaby - 4-18-2010 at 08:17 PM
Kick ass kicked ass.DaveMoral - 4-18-2010 at 08:22 PM
Normally I'd be a little miffed at film departures from the comic source material... and Kick-Ass the movie does so in some seriously significant
ways. Far more significant that most other comic book movies. Ways that change the story completely. Oddly, totally acceptable for me. It wasn't like
the major change to Watchmen, which none the less did not change the story. What is changed in Kick-Ass changes everything, but it's totally
acceptable to me because it seems to me it's a direction that Millar and Romita JR wanted to explore and thus the movie is a sort of "what if" for the
comic.
That might be different if Millar and Romita JR weren't Exec Producers, and knowing that this thing was made independently without studio support or
interference... I have a feeling that Millar and Romita had plenty of input on those decisions.tireironsaint - 4-18-2010 at 09:03 PM
I really need to get hold of the comic, the movie was fucking great.XnMeX - 4-18-2010 at 10:22 PM

See my previous post...
I tried, but it doesn't appear to be mac friendly software... thanks though!tireironsaint - 4-18-2010 at 11:40 PM
Oh, think I found a Comic Viewer program that will work, now I just hafta see if the comic itself will work for me...
Here's the one I'm trying out for anyone else on a mac that wants to try... http://download.cnet.com/3001-18488_4-127536.html?spi=69f425...tireironsaint - 4-19-2010 at 02:10 AM
Turns out I didn't need the Viewer/Reader thing, the program on my mac called Preview works just fine and the Viewer I downloaded didn't work at all.
The comic is awesome though, thanks xnMexDave - 4-19-2010 at 07:32 AM
a cbr is pretty much just a zip file, if you "unzip" it there will be a .jpg for each page of the comic.XnMeX - 4-19-2010 at 11:29 AM
