So, I had thought about going to see PiL play Denver and then looked up the ticket prices. $50 plus about 15 more in fees seemed like a lot to me, but
I was still kinda thinking about it. I kept going to the webpage for the Ogden Theater, where they're playing and noticed a little button saying I
could sign up my email for a chance to win a pair of tickets. I figured nothing would come of it, but signed up anyway. I immediately got an automated
email response saying the person who deals with such things was out of the office until the day before the show and I assumed that there was no way I
was ever gonna hear another peep about this thing.
Well, tomorrow's the show and what do ya know, I got an email this morning telling me I won two tickets! Of course, the bitch of it is, this is
clearly some short notice and I live a good 6 to 7 hours away from Denver. I also am supposed to work tomorrow, but being as I work in a very laid
back tattoo shop, I am able to get the day off pretty easily.
I start asking around to see who wants to make the run up there with me and split gas and a room with me, but since it's short notice, nobody can get
away. I check with a friend who had originally planned to drive up from Albuquerque and wanted me to go with her, but turns out she wasn't able to get
the day off and can't afford to call in and go anyway. So I spend the rest of the day wondering if I can really justify the cost of running up there
solo and finally decided that this shitty week entitles me, so I'm gonna go see motherfuckin' Public Image Limited in Denver tomorrow and have the
break from this town that I so badly need.

It all makes sense now. I couldn't figure out how my luck changed enough that I was actually winning something cool like this until I was literally 15
minutes outside of downtown Denver and my phone told me I had a new email. That email was a notification that the show in Denver was cancelled because
the Interstate PiL were using to go through Wyoming to get to Colorado was closed due to bad weather.
I'm not entirely sure who thought driving through Wyoming was a good idea, but I'm assuming at this point that it was part of a cosmic joke on me
seeing as I drove 6 hours to get my ass up there in time for this damn show. Oh well, I had arranged to have dinner with a friend in exchange for my
extra ticket and she was gracious enough to still take care of that for me even though there was no longer a show to go to, so I still had a nice
