i think my problem is that i totally dont give a shit about magic islands

my general rule on things sort of seems to be if it cant happen in real life, no care

It's been in a shit timeslot all season here so I'm waiting for it to end so I can download it. So far haven't heard/seen/read anything about the final season so I'm in a good place. Need to re-watch the end of season 5, it's been so damn long I have no idea what's happening.

Heroes is being canned too, never watched FlashForward. Keen to pick up Fringe where it left off and Flashpoint is brilliant so I'm happy the Canadian network is keeping it going.

We get shit up to a year later here or not at all so picking & choosing TV shows is pretty shocking.

Was the Vincent the dog god?

Was Ben alive?
Was Ben dead, but not ready to move on?
What happend to Lapidus, Miles & Richard?
What was up with Walt & Michael?

Still trying to figure it all out. My question is when did they die? Was it in the original plane crash? I think Ben stayed outside because he didn't feel he belonged with the others.

This sentence is the same as saying "Yeah, I tuned in for 3 1/2 seconds of The Godfather about 1/2 way thru and had no idea what the he'll was going on. Never got into it."

Seriously though. Catching a random episode makes no sense at all for this show EVER. You need to try at Episode 1 or not at all.

XnMeX - 5-24-2010 at 12:56 PM

As for the content of the episode...

Yeah, when did they die and for alot of them HOW did they die... Ben, Hurley, Miles, Lapenis, Richard, Rose, Bernard, Kate, Sawyer, Etc, Etc...

Still unclear as to why they even needed to protect the island, needed to go back. What would have happened if The Man in Black made it off the island?

Oh Lost... you are done and STILL soo many un-answered questions! I like stuff that leaves a little bit or you to piece together yourself (ALA: Fight Club, American Psycho, etc) but there was just WAY Too much left for people to figure out their own theories on. I loved figuring out theories as the show was going on to see if I would be close to being right or way off but with a series finale, that does not fly!

clevohardcore - 5-24-2010 at 01:28 PM

I have n idea what that show is about. So what is the premise and ending? I'll never watch it so can anyone sum it up?

If you go on to the Lost boards on IMDB there are quite a few discussions on what it all meant. One group seem to think is was all a metaphor and Jack is Jesus and Christian is God. Jack even died from a wound like the one that killed Jesus.

The overwhelming majority seem to believe the island and all that happened there is real. The side flashes in current time was Purgatory, and they were all there waiting for the others to die. At that point they were shown what really happened to them in life so they could all move on to the afterlife together.

DaveMoral - 5-24-2010 at 06:07 PM

I'm pretty sure the Island was defnitely real life. Everyone but Jack, Hurley and Ben... that survived to the end... made it off the island and lived a presumably full life. They all met up in the Purgatory flash-sideways/alternate timeline world that we'd been following all season.

Still not entirely sure what the mythology behind the Island is, the whole cork keeping evil bottled up or whatever... something makes me suspect it might have something to do with the Egyptian Book of the Dead given all the Egyptian stuff hanging around. I could be wrong.

Dave - 5-25-2010 at 10:26 AM

Island stuff all happened...

I got that that the flash-sideways, was no-time/year, and was them all waiting in purgatory. (note the stained glass & the statues in the church, were all from different religions)

And as for when they died, Jack asked if they were all dead, and Christian said; everyone dies at some point...

Jack died on the island, from his wounds, Hurley & Ben took over looking after the island (as Ben said "you made a good #1" and Hurley Said "you made a good #2 dude") outside the church, and died at some point. the rest got off the island, on the plane & died at a later time.

And i think Ben stayed out of the church because, he really wasn't part of the group.

DaveMoral - 5-25-2010 at 05:47 PM

I think Ben stayed out because he just wasn't ready to move on, or perhaps thought he hadn't made up in some way for what he'd been in life.

JawnDiablo - 5-25-2010 at 10:22 PM

just watched the end.
I get most of it, but am kinda confused what happened to those in the plane after they got it off the ground.....
obviously dead.
ah man probably the most suspenseful show ever....done.
I naysayed it for years and then went and borrowed season 1 off of a guy at work.
I caught up by time the writers strike was over.
Kinda sad to see it go.
