Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Get Him to the Greek...

Saw this with the wife this weekend. Funny movie but not worth going out of your way for. Quite a few REALLY funny parts but way too much boredom.

I love the Apatow crowd of movies/actors. They're good legit comedies that aren't mindless drivel like most of the Sandler/Spade/Duece Bigalo (or whatever the makin copies asshole's name is) era comedies...but sometimes the grossout comedy meets bromance fromula gets too overbearing.

It's like they want to been funny but also want to try to be taken seriously...how about just be seriously funny....it's possible. Todd Phillips is doing it. Old School and Hangover especially are perfect examples. He's working on a Planes, Trains and Automobiles style movie with Downey and Galifianakis, trying to get Downey home to his wife in labor...that'll be golden.

i liked it overall , P Diddy or whatever the fuck he is called now was really good in this.

I laughed my ass off. The fight scene in Vegas was great.

Yeah that was the best part of the movie, Vegas. And Diddy was amazing. Everything from the threesome onwards was just awkward and not needed period.

Yeah... the whole time watching that, I kept thinking "This really should have been a deleted scene."

Plus after that...what happened....like 25 minutes of Russel Brand singing and a fake storytellers? That was my biggest problem with it is the last half hour of the movie was one of the most anti-climactic things I've ever seen. It was comparable to Return of the King where it had like 14 endings and you just started wanting to go home.

Well... can't say I completely agree... I'm kinda a LotR nut so I could watch that shit for hours on end hahaha But I get what you're saying

Johnny_Whistle - 6-14-2010 at 11:40 AM

No amount of Judd Apatow genius could get me to pay money to see a movie that features Russell Brand. That dude is clearly a product of marketing. There are better comics from the UK, and this is the one they choose to push on us. Gah....

To clarify...I'm not knocking LotR...I guarantee I am the biggest Ringer on this board, I wont go into details to avoid complete nerd persecution (it goes waaay beyond the movies or the books (just knowing it's called being a Ringer to begin with is a giant red flag, lol)).

But the ending was very awkward how it was segmented into separate "but wait, there's more!" moments. I suppose it was necessary to accomplish closure...but it's the closest comparison I could think of where just when you think the movies over, it goes on.

probably the best piece of dialogue in clerks 2

Jason the Magnificent - 6-14-2010 at 12:52 PM

Yeah that was great scene....though they're not even comparable. Star Wars wouldn't even exist w/o the LotR books so it's a bad argument fundamentally. Nothing against the OG trilogy, but it's no contest.

and for the record I've never recited anything in public place aloud or dressed up as an elf lol.
