Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

opinions on this shirt?

XHonusWagnerX - 6-25-2010 at 08:40 AM

It was just a funny idea I had.

JawnDiablo - 6-25-2010 at 09:06 AM

boston strangler?

XHonusWagnerX - 6-25-2010 at 09:13 AM

Even though theres a name to the Boston Strangler (Albert DeSalvo) they never clearly said that he commited all the murders and I like that they are all names rather than putting 'Boston Strangler' on there.

panzerkreuzer - 6-25-2010 at 09:13 AM

sorry, i´m only the stupid german, but what´s the boston connection of killer kowalski?

what about larry bird? one of my faves.

BDx13 - 6-25-2010 at 09:14 AM

i assume some people are into it, but this style has never done anything for me.
ian and hr
paul and ringo
peter paul and mary
blah.

panzerkreuzer - 6-25-2010 at 09:22 AM

i want a suicidal styled slapshot shirt. the mask with bandana or something like that.

ShawnRefuse - 6-25-2010 at 09:51 AM

not feeling it. Sorry man.

nobody ever liked Larry Bird did they....

gavin - 6-25-2010 at 10:03 AM

i like killer kowalski for sure

XHonusWagnerX - 6-25-2010 at 10:17 AM

no apologies at all guys.... they asked me to do a few new designs and I had no good ideas. I put together this and 3 others and sent them with an email that says "I dont know if these are any good at all!" and they liked them for the most part. Guess thats what matters most... This one was my favorite of the 4 I did thats why I posted it here.

I did some DYS stuff too, but havent heard back from Jonathan about what he likes/doesnt like so I dont want to post anything here. Sippers did an awesome DYS one too that I really hope Jon likes!

Killer Kowalski was not from Boston, but his wrestling school was just outside of Boston for many years.

E-mail them to me :) I am curious.

panzerkreuzer - 6-25-2010 at 10:32 AM

please show the other three, too

JawnDiablo - 6-25-2010 at 10:39 AM

I used to have a Sudden Death Overtime shirt like 18 years ago.
I wish I still had that.

XHonusWagnerX - 6-25-2010 at 11:12 AM

OK... I'll post the other 3 Slapshot shirts I did, but PLEASE keep in mind that as much of a superfan as I am, I'm not that into these designs. They were spur of the moment ideas and they were based on the merch companies saying "think outside the box", "oversized print is in" & "lots of colors is good".

I know I've come up with some clunkers before, but I think I've done some real good ones and dont really want these to 'lower my average'.

*also incase anyone else notices, the last one could almost be considered a Marilyn Manson parody shirt because of the back. Marilyn might have done something with the flag before too.

I dont think I have your email address shawn. post it or U2U it to me.

*EDIT: Nevermind, I found your email address

JawnDiablo - 6-25-2010 at 11:15 AM

I like the middle one best.

BDx13 - 6-25-2010 at 11:22 AM

the middle one is thinking inside the box.

yeah me too, but the problem is its barely any different than any other Slapshot shirt. They have such an 'iconic' logo that when you stray to far from it, people dont like it. Plus the things the merch company said are what 'kids' like in shirts. Most Slapshot fans are 30+ years old and they want a black shirt with a bulldog or a hockey mask on it!

JawnDiablo - 6-25-2010 at 11:47 AM

kids schmids....

tireironsaint - 6-25-2010 at 11:50 AM

I like the top one, but probably wouldn't wear it with it being an oversized image like that. If it was scaled down, I think that could be a pretty cool shirt design.

panzerkreuzer - 6-25-2010 at 12:03 PM

i like the first two. the middle one reminds me of the avail logo.
the last one is too patriotic for me and if they will sell it on their euro tour they will get the same problems as choke had with stars and stripes over here. not a good idea to me.

panzerkreuzer - 6-25-2010 at 12:04 PM

post the dys ones!

I thought it looked like the Avail Dixie cover too.

Discipline - 6-25-2010 at 02:44 PM

I LOVE the first one.

i like this one, but the alignment to the left bugs me.

it'd be cooler if the names were centered.

Jason the Magnificent - 6-26-2010 at 07:25 AM

yeah def needs to be centered on the back...not sure I'm feeling the words with the little skull below on the front though...looks kind of whipped together.

conceptually this is cool, just think the front needs more bang.

The "boston hardcore legends part almost belongs on the back somehow or smaller on the front with a giant logo behind it if they want big and bold. maybe the skull can be greyed out behind text or something. they really are legends and that logo is iconic...it doesn't need to be spelled out for people, it can still be giant and not be the first thing focused on at the front by mixing some greys with white text.

just some thoughts.

Six66Mike - 6-26-2010 at 08:04 AM

Probably a whole lotta copyright problems but how about logos on the back, 2 teams then slapshot logo centered on the next row, then 2 more teams below? The Legends of Boston?

Celtics & Red Sox
Slapshot
Bruins & Patriots

necrobutcher - 6-26-2010 at 09:48 AM

Not a bad design. I just looked up Ted Williams as he was the only name I couldn't identify and goddamn, he was a badass.

Honestly, the best Slapshot shirt I ever saw was the one with a pentagram made of hockey sticks and saying "Keep Hardcore Evil" on the back.

XnMeX - 6-26-2010 at 12:28 PM

I had a design idea pop into my head so I had to make it...

If you want the full size art, let me know...

I figure you could "Slappy-a-fi" one of the movies tagline sfor the back. Here is a list of them, I just went with the first movies taglines as an idea.

1.Friday the 13th : "Fridays will never be the same again"

2.Friday the 13th Part 2 : "The body count continues..."

3.Friday the 13th Part 3D : "A New Dimension In Terror..."

4.Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter : "This is the one you'll be dying for..."

5.Friday the 13th: A New Beginning : "If Jason still haunts you, you're not alone!"

6.Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives : "Evil always rises again"

7.Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood : "On Friday the 13th, Jason will meet his match"

8.Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan : "New York has a new problem!"

9.Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday : "Evil has finally found a home"

10.Jason X : "Evil Gets An Upgrade"

Jason the Magnificent - 6-26-2010 at 01:51 PM

Thats a cool design....I think that would be killer with the "Evil always rises again" tagline on the back playing off slapshots many reunions...I don't know that Boston needs to be mentioned at all on that one.

Jason the Magnificent - 6-26-2010 at 01:52 PM

That would be one of the very rare shirts that would look good with one of those GIANT front prints too.

Agreed. I'd buy that in a heartbeat!

Jason the Magnificent - 6-26-2010 at 02:19 PM

I think maybe the only thing is (and this is nitpicky) the more realistic/photo looking treatment of the mask would look kind of metally on the front of the shirt when silk screened...if somehow it could be toned down a hair or filtered or something to take it out of a Iron Maiden-esque 4 color deal...

hard to say though on that.
