What a lot of Irish bands do is use old traditional dance tunes and add lyrics to them, either ones that they wrote or (in the case of DKM), something
from Woody Guthrie. That's why on a lot of records, you'll see credits like "Trad., Arr. by ...", which is how they can claim the song as theirs.
It's the "Arr. by..." part that they're using to block the guy from sampling it, although they claim to have written the music (which is wierd,
because I know I've heard the tune itself at sessions for years). |
