Some of you may have noticed that I shut the message boards down for a while around noon today. An individual from Iran was attempting to have his
way with things by deleting (well, hiding, actually - more on that below) entire threads and replacing them with an image of his own.
The person did not gain access to the administration panel or the database. S/he used HTML in posts to call a simple script from a remote site that
included a custom style sheet. (Style sheets are used to define the look, feel and layout of a webpage. What the person did is very much like when
you modify a MySpace page to give it a custom look.) Fortunately, that means all that it was really doing was tricking your browser into not showing
the usual content of a thread page, but instead, display the image below along with the text "Hacked by King of Larestan- Home : Larestan.frm.ir"
The problem was resolved by simply deleting the person's posts.
For the time being, I have turned off the ability to include HTML in your posts. Sorry. We actually ran these boards with that feature disabled for
years for exactly this reason. You can still include photos and links and edit text using BB code and the buttons directly above the box where you
type your post.
Additionally, I will have to shut down the boards for a software upgrade some time soon. Once I figure out when I've got a day to kill, I'll let you
know.

the person played with three threads before i froze his account. in situations like this this, it's better to not just start deleting things
(accounts, posts, etc), because there might be useful information in there. so i fixed two of the three threads (discipline and ashers stream)
because they were older and had lots of replies. your thread i left as is, but moved into another admin-only forum i maintain, essentially as an
