Antoine Dodson buys a house with the 'Bed Intruder' song money

Antoine Dodson -- the 24-year-old Alabama native who became a YouTube sensation after he chased a would-be rapist from his sister's bedroom -- tells UsMagazine.com he is moving his family into a safer home.

"We found a house!" he tells Us, adding that he is so "excited ... It's for my whole family. And these are new houses that have just been built."

Dodson is paying for the new pad thanks to money he earned after musicians the Gregory Brothers turned his tirade into an Auto-Tuned song that hit the top 50 iTunes list (Dodson got half the proceeds).

"I still can't believe this," he tells Us of his sudden fame. "Even though my life is moving forward, it's at a standstill in my mind. I'm like, 'Wow! All of this is happening just off a news interview!'"

Dodson says he doesn't regret going off in the now infamous news segment.

"I was angry!" he tells Us. "I was like, 'I can't believe this!' I was really mad and everybody took the video and put it all out there. Now I'm glad that the world knows what's going on so they won't sweep this under the rug. This will bring pressure on the police department and investigators investigating the case."

Incidentally, he tells Us police still have no leads.

Luckily, he tells Us, "We made enough to move and get a house."

Dodson says he also plans to return to school. "I signed up to finish my Associate's Degree in business," he says. "That way I can take everything to the next level and be on a more professional level."

His ultimate goal? To "open a salon," he tells Us. "Or a hotel."

I personally get more enjoyment out of these internet fads than I do with any of the useless pieces of shit from the Jersey Shore, Bachelor, Big Brother, etc, etc...

Also, at least he did somthing positive with the money and got his family out of the PJs wheras Jersey Shore types take the money to be even bigger douchebags.

As far as him getting a pay day for not doing anything, I still think it's bull. He's an idiot, and he gets rewarded for it. It is a commentary on more than just the internet, it's how ridiculously stupid the people of this country are too. And same thing to the reality shows like real world, jersey shore, real housewives, etc (I do enjoy the competition ones though, they are more like game shows). People getting rewarded for being over-the-top stupid will only breed into a useless country. Which, we are becoming.

Should he get something for saving his sister? Yeah, a pat on the back and an handshake for doing what any normal person would do if their family was being attacked.

Few things get me really heated. This happens to be one of them. Working hard should be the ONLY way people can get ahead. Judged only on your individual contributions. Hell, like you said, he wasn't even talented enough to make the song. Oh well, that's just me.

BTW does anyone even know if they got the guy who broke in? Or was the story overshadowed by this awesome song?

Yeah, I tend to agree with you on the other stuff, but I've become really desensitized - alright, apathetic - towards the pseudo-celebrity culture you're talking about. It still pisses me of in general, but this seems like the least offensive case to me, especially since he didn't go out and blow the cash like a piece of shit and instead bought a house for his family outside he shit hole neighborhood they used to live in.

And I have no idea about the guy who broke in. One of the perks to living outside the US now is that I didn't even know who this douche was until I clicked on this thread. But, your criticism is right on here, since I'm sure the super cool song is more important to most shitbags than, you know, finding the attempted rapist and taking care of the problem.

I think it's awesome. Good for him that something positive came out of this whole mess. I think it's ridiculous for anyone to bag on the guy for doing something positive with the cash. No, he didn't work to earn it, but on the other hand it's amazing to see that the people who turned his news clip into a song did the respectable thing and handed over half of the money they made off the whole deal and even more amazing that he did something with that money to positively affect his family's life. How often do you hear about people actually doing the right thing when some random windfall comes their way?

For anyone who thinks anything shitty about this deal, answer me this: if some silly clip of YOU got out and became an internet sensation because somebody else made something out of it and then they handed you a huge chunk of change would you really turn it down? If you did take the cash, what better thing could you think of to spend it on than a safe home for your family, an education, and maybe a business start up?

Oh, and I'm certainly not a fan in any way, shape, or form of the whole "reality TV" types or any of that nonsense. I just think it's going overboard to shit on a guy who didn't go out looking for any kind of fame and had something thrown his way because something insanely fucked up happened to his family. Most people who had a fat chunk of change thrown in their lap like that would have done some selfish shit with it and he seems to be doing the absolute right thing.

I'm almost surprised at myself for feeling so defensive about this, being that I generally hate people but then again, the whole reason for that hate is that they tend to do the wrong thing at every opportunity.

The people you should be mad at are the ones that actualy bought the song on iTunes...

Do I enjoy a funny internet video? Yeah, it's free. Would I pay for some stupid internet fad song? Nope.

i understand shawn's point about do-nothing internet jock riders that somehow make out financially (what was that asian dude from american idol a few years back that was fucking EVERYWHERE?), but i'm with saint on this one. something horrible happened to this dude's family, his own passionate interview happened to have comedic value (despite the serious nature of the crime), then other people took what he did and figured out how to make money off it. the surprising part is that he seems to have gotten paid every step of the way. and you can tell he's definitely not taking himself too seriously. he got paid for that first song, he's working on a follow up song, he's got an iphone app the shows the home/work location of nearby sex offenders. good for him.
