There is not a single person here that does not benefit from outsourced jobs. The cold reality is that the job market is an entity that is subject to dramatic change and a lot of people are going to be on the losing end. Its one of those terrible things that has to exist, there is no Utopian alternative to the situation.

stop giving tax breaks to shitty companies to take their jobs over seas so they can more easily give hand jobs to their high ups and their share holders. tax the fuck out of them and essentially force them to play ball with the american labor market

first off, EVERYBODY HATES DEALING WITH CSRS THAT CANT SPEAK FUCKING ENGLISH. it means your calls take longer, which means your business runs less efficiently, and you customer service index goes down causing customers to look elsewhere with their ever dwindling dollar. in addition you have to deal with language barrier type mistake which again, hurt your efficiency, and your customer service index, and you have to hire more people (that dont speak fucking english) to track down and fix the problems. NO BENEFITS THERE

now think for a second what our lives would look like if all the thousands of 50k + a year tech jobs hadnt had left. the stupifuck republicans like to talk and talk about trickle down economics. that starts right here with this exact subject..... joe gets a 50K job. joe buys a house, and a new car, and has to pay people to maintain, insure, up/downgrade, fuel, etc said purchases. joe is stimulating the economy every day he walks out the fucking door in this country/county/community. mr. patel?? not so much (unless you own the fucking company). factor in your telecom costs and so on and you really dont have a great deal there either

now, lets look at the CSR jobs. those are 10-15 dollar positions here. YOUNG PEOPLE have those jobs. when young people have jobs they stimulate the economy via night life, retail spending, education, tech, they take care of children etc etc etc.......again IN THIS FUCKING COUNTRY. old people also have those jobs which means less strain on medicare, and other entitlements because they are able to create addition income aside from social security. this means less overworked emergency rooms and community urgent cares and more on private practice, which causes private insurance to spend money, and it keeps higher paying jobs open and thriving in the private health care sector. again, the money stays here

you have large quantities of people spending money to survive and less on luxury items. the republican general philosophy works but only when directed at the middle class, which is where they are currently and always will fail.

so where are we now then?? you dont seem to be hearing as many accents when you call the bank anymore do you?? theres a reason why.......

outsourcing doesnt work. it looks from the out set that theres cheap labor to be had and bush was handing out tax breaks for it like jasmine st claire hands out the half and halfs. looks like a great deal!!

you factor in the drops in CSI, the tele costs, and the maintenance and quality control difficulties its not fucking worth it (also add in it doesnt do a lick of shit if nobody can afford your products and services here either)

and look at it from a foreign relations angle.......

so where are those jobs you ask? why arnt americans working again?

you push a pebble down a hill, run as far as you can and jump in front of it your not gonna get hit by a pebble

outsourcing was one of the first in an extremely long line of shitty decisions that bush choose to reward (of course the mortgage and financial deregulation was another one. his bullshit tax cuts for the 2%ers....as well as his life sized versions of call of fucking duty part one and two).

bottom line is the damage is done. they ripped a huge chunk out of the american employment pool and now those jobs cant exist here or in india/pakistan/where ever. the demand on the consumption side isnt there anymore

and if you think outsourcing lowered costs for the consumer think again

take auto insurance for example. every single year that industry has jacked itself up like a six all the while sending all their CSR jobs overseas. you arnt seeing the savings

the only industry i can think of that maybe can claim to be saving consumers in this country money is personal tech items. yes cell phones and such are way more complicated then they used to be, but on the flip....that shits getting more expensive (beyond what inflation should be in a responsible economy) too. perhaps the argument can be made that it would be a lot more with out the manufacturing done over there, but based on other industries id say thats unlikely

out souring is a way for top level management and shareholders to pocket addition profit, all the while sucking the life out of families and communities all over the country......nothing more nothing less

honestly the fact that you can insinuate that ANYBODY is benefiting from outsourcing aside from the rich asshole that have scorched the earth of this great fucking land is totally insane

outsourcing benefits NOBODY and its a ginat fucking insult to everybody that has a friend/loved one/etc that lost a house or a job or a car or anything because their job got bounced

again, fuck this show and fuck NBC

So I wrote about a decent response, basically surmising that change in the work place is inevitable, and someone has to be on the losing end. Unfortunately that is America, etc etc. Prime example is India having 431 million people move out of poverty because they are gaining jobs, and the knowledge to create a job infrastructure like Americans are accustomed to within their own country.

Then I went to delete something, not noticing my mouse cursor wasn't in this box, so my backspace went back a page and everything was gone.

Radicalism is able to breed in impoverished areas. If the standard of living in Death to America countries rose, those ideologies wouldn't hold nearly as much weight, because that is anger redirected at us from a frustrated populous who feels absolutely powerless. Aside from the statistically inescapable nutjobs in any population I don't heart any of the filthy rich Middle Eastern countries beating the war drums.

I'll give you tech jobs as being an unforeseen, I think how rapidly those jobs lost value shocked many, but those jobs depended on the fact that there was so much new technology at the turn of the century. We got a jump start and it was only a matter of time before everyone else caught up.

Bottom line is outsourcing forces our workforce to evolve. My college is packed with people forced out of the job market who are getting educated and developing new ways to create capital which in part helps benefit our countries economy. Part of the reason why our economy is in the shitter is that the workforce stagnated during a period of unprecedented change. You can point to the policies of the nation over the past 20 years, and yes they did not help, but this shift was going to happen regardless of policy. In a way this is the next Industrial Revolution, except the western world is not benefiting this time. Change is painful and as we move through this new frontier in human history all I ask is don't be this guy...

I think the point of the post is flawed from the get go. I don't disagree with the frustration of jobs leaving American shores, but the solution is not what is proposed and furthermore, it's highly unlikely to ever happen. And yes, Americans do benefit from outsourcing. Especially when it comes to retail and the products we buy that are manufactured overseas. It's the same logic as to why Americans benefit from immigrant farm labor.

i never offered any solutions here. there arnt any. i just pointed out problems, and why we should all be offended as fuck by this show

now as for my "broad generalizations of Pakistanis" i didnt make any of those either. no place in that rant anywhere did i say ALL people from pakistan think we suck and want to kill us. i like pakistanis. i got to the liquor store all the time by my house thats owned by an Egyptian and a Pakistani, and just hang out and shoot the shit. they are both super interesting dudes. i do that like at least twice a week

bottom line is what they got there is the same thing we got here. we have wacko extremists, just like they do. and here, just like there they do have the ability to make policy decisions and influence public opinions of things

giving them the old switch a roo doesnt help the way we are viewed, and it gives the crazies a platform to stand on (just like fox news does for the tea party)

i would with out a question say that probably the majority of pakistanis have a favorable opinion of americans. however once upon a time so did the people of Afghanistan. my point is that bad decisions, and playing with peoples lives over there has consequences. its no different then here, although the outcome of messing with a culture you choose not to really understand can put you in a pretty huge mess

Not making light of Americans losing jobs really at all, but poking at the cultural differences and ludicrousness of Indians selling pointless American crap for reasons they can't possibly understand and the awkwardness of a guy transplanted from the US to run the call center. And Asha was super beautiful.

spyder, your whole tone with "mr pakistan guy" is a generalization, not some point about "they have extremists too." It certainly doesn't read that way.
