JawnDiablo - 10-23-2010 at 12:03 AM

lifeisabitch - 10-24-2010 at 11:59 PM

fuck this is good

mattybar - 10-25-2010 at 05:43 AM

cheers for the linkl, didn't really know too much about this but I thought this was really good.
Good to see another English actor doing big things in America too.

My only complaint was the cgi blood, I just don't understand why they really bother with that but it's a sign of the times I guess.

XnMeX - 11-1-2010 at 08:30 PM

I thought they did an excelent job! My friend got me the 1st hardcover book for my last birthday and it is badass. I imagine that will be the complete first season. I am suprised at what they can get away with on tv now.

Vanilla Gorilla - 11-1-2010 at 08:48 PM

it started on AMC last night it was pretty cool. I love the post apocalyptic stuff

tireironsaint - 11-1-2010 at 11:21 PM

Watched it today, really good stuff aside from a couple weird inconsistencies and whatnot. Looks like something I'll need to own whenever they get around to releasing DVDs.

lifeisabitch - 11-2-2010 at 12:06 AM

weird inconsistencies?
like some lights on in the hospital and not all of them?

Like him being shot in the upper back/shoulder blade area with an exit wound in his chest and then the bandage being on his stomach. Like the repeated conversations about how they need to be quiet and not shoot too often to avoid attracting zombies and then doing things like turning the siren on and off to say goodbye. Like sniper target practice from the window of the house he's afraid to look out the window of in order to keep from being noticed.

Nothing that was a huge letdown or that ruined it for me, it's just things that kind of make it harder to keep up the suspension of disbelief required for this kind of show. I still really enjoyed it and will be purchasing DVDs when available, but those kinds of things stick out to me.

I think the sniper practice thing is explained fairly easily... first of all, he was trying to attract zombies so his wife would come out and he could finally do what he shoulda done and popped her. Secondly, he's got a whole hell of alot more ammo now than he did when he met Deputy whatever his name is.

***POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW****
All those things I thought of as well while watching it. The gunshot wound there's no getting around, I figure the lights that were on in the hospital were running on a backup generator (but who the hell pulled all the wires and shit out of the ceiling and why?!). The honk and siren were far from where the one guy was going back to with his son so I guess they didn't think of it (although in the comic, they shoot a gun and a herd shows up like a day later...) and he was definitely just trying to draw his wife out to put her down. THey seemed to lose interest pretty quick.
The scene in Atlanta was INTENSE. I too am surprised by the level of gore they are showing on a non premium channel (OPENING SCENE WITH A GRADE SCHOOLER GETTING SHOT IN THE HEAD AND DISEMBOWELING THE FUCKING HORSE!!). I think this show's gonna be around for a while. It's pretty true to the books. Anyhow, psyched for next week.

JawnDiablo - 11-2-2010 at 07:30 PM

I'm glad so many people on here dig it and discuss it.
I didn't even think of this stuff.
Good points all around.
I was just happy to have zombies on TV ha-ha!

I dunno, I mean, I understand WHY he wanted to do the sniper thing, but it seems stupid to attract the zombies to the house when they were just freaking out so bad about the possibility of the zombies seeing light in the window. Maybe I'm just overanalyzing these things, but it would have made more sense to me to set up the sniper position in one of the other vacant houses nearby so as not to draw them to where he and his son are living.

As I keep saying though, it's well done and I really enjoyed this episode, so I'm gonna try to stop picking at the little things that stick out to me before I pull the whole thing apart.

JawnDiablo - 11-3-2010 at 07:24 AM

those guys need a flamethrower....especially in the city.
I'm anxious to see who is on the other end of the radio in the tank.
my TV crapped out on me 2 weeks ago and I've been either watching everything on my PC or on my son's TV when he's not over.
New one arrives Saturday....ahhh

Yup!

This is not a ***SPOILER*** per say but hints at stuff from the comic...

I can't wait for the "camoflage / rain" scene. I hope they do it!

jcarter - 11-3-2010 at 03:53 PM

How many of you guys read the comic? I can't read it on a monthly basis because it takes like 5 minutes to read so I wait for the collections, which by the time they come out I forget what happened in the last one...it's a great book though.

JawnDiablo - 11-3-2010 at 03:59 PM

not me.
I'd like to see it though

XnMeX - 11-3-2010 at 04:41 PM

I read the first book since I got it for my birthday. I have most of them in digtal form but I hate reading them on the computer monitor so I haven't. I usually only read mini-series in digital format.

I love reading comics on my comp. Saves a whole ton of cash and gives me the opportunity to read stuff I probably wouldn't be able to put the cash down for if I had it to spend on comics.

Green Lantern, for instance. Never liked him before, now I think he's DC's coolest.

I am guessing the iPad would be sweet for comic readers...

DaveMoral - 11-4-2010 at 05:30 PM

No doubt. I'm wondering if .cbr and .cbz files can be read on eReaders.

Dave - 11-5-2010 at 07:43 AM

you can just use winrar, and and unzip them. They are just .jpg files.
