pumpkin carving question with pic of my pumpkin

XHonusWagnerX - 10-24-2010 at 04:19 PM

You know the pumpkins where the carving doesnt go all teh way through and the wall of the pumpkin is just so thin that the light shines through?

How do you do that?

I found places to get a pattern and know you transfer the pattern to the pumpkin by making little holes with an all or a knife, but how do you carve out those pieces without going all teh way through?

i'm really no expert but i think if you just kind or scrape off the harder outer orange you can probably get to the next layer and just kind of scrape it down a bit, and i think it should work. This is all hypothetical on my part as a kid i only ever cut out the faces all the way when making jack o lanterns.

after a bit of searching I found a guy doing it on YouTube using a chisel so you're probably right Gorilla, thanks!

wicked! Didn't we post a bunch of pumpkins we made one year?

I found that if you just cut the design with a exacto knife, or something similar, you could just scrap out the top layers, without going all the way thru.

Very nice Josh, that's awesome!

I find all of this very impressive.
I'd mutilate the damn pumpkin if I tried it.
