I have a friend who is going into long term rehab for drug addiction. I don't know anyone else who has gone into rehab but i figured i would send him a care package once in a while.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience sending stuff to people in rehab and maybe some suggestions on what i can send. I figured maybe some magazines and cigarettes, just looking for ideas

I suggest calling the place first and see if there are items that aren't allowed. They might also have suggestions that are popular with patients. Can't go wrong with a deck of cards.

Chap stick. Chap stick is one of those things that when you need it, you NEED it.

if you plan on sending books check if they allow hardcovers before you send one, don't know about rehab, but jails don't allow hardcover

i was in one of those places once. they allow essentially nothing in there unless it comes from his direct family, and even then they dont allow much

Calling the place is your best bet, but don't expect much. A lot of places want the patient to be cut off from the outside world while they are going through treatment. I've found it easier to keep in touch with friends in prison than in rehab. Send a letter as often as you can, love from the outside can help a man stay sane.
