Anyone know how he's doing? I didn't give it any thought until Brian made this comment in another thread

I checked his profile, and he hasn't logged on since July. I'm not sure if he's deployed or not, checks the board or not, or anything else... but he's still part of the Thorp family in my mind.

If anyone knows what's going on, can you let us know he's doing OK? And whether he's deployed or not, could we think about sending something to his family for the holidays (today is Veteran's Day, after all, but I was thinking of Thanksgiving and Christmas)? Even if it's something simple like a card that we mail around to each other and all sign it, I think it would be a cool thing to do for a fellow Thorp warrior and a guy who has sacrificed a lot to serve in the Navy. Also, I have some vague recollection of his wife having a miscarriage and then later getting pregnant with a daughter, but I may be way off (my brain... it kinda sucks these days).

And speaking of Thorp warriors who disappear, I thought of Joe Macon / I'm Macon Movies the other day. I know he got into it a bit with some people on here, but I miss the guy and hope he's doing well.

Even though I've never met either of these guys, I think of them the same way I think of the regulars around here... some of the best friends I have but never met in person (with a few notable exceptions in BD, m.alki, and mattybar).

Oh, and since I rarely post these days... Clevo, congrats on making the force!

I hate bumping this and getting people's hopes up, but anyone know what happened to him?

The Joe Macon thread immediately made me think of this one, since I knew I mentioned a few of the old Thorp Warriors who don't post anymore... though it looks like it was only the two of them. Was just playing some of the "Carnival of Excess" stuff that I mailed to him when he was abroad and thought about him.

Anyway, just wanted to mention him and - if he's reading - let him know we're still thinking of him, miss him, and hope he's doing OK. Really, I'm hoping that things are so great with the wife and kids (and maybe the car club, too) that he doesn't have a need for us anymore. Nonetheless, I think Mark's comments about Joe are still in the back of my mind... regrets are a mother fucker, but not learning from them is even worse.

To Bob and all the ex-Thorp boarders out there, I hope you're still reading and doing well. Feel free to drop us a line and let us know how things are going.

yup, found him on FB, talked to him this morning. Alive and well! I've looked on FB before, but w/o published location information or a personal photo on the account, it can be hard to tell if it's THE person you're looking for.

Hey All! My bust for not getting around, things have been wild for the past year or so. I appreciate all the well wishes, you guys are still top notch to me always. I am still in Va Beach, just transferred from my ship to the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth VA. Not a bad gig and hopefully I don't have to go anywhere anytime soon

My wife and girls are doing great! Growing so fast and learning new things everyday, it is a true joy to spend time with kids, you learn so much more about yourself. I did a quick run down of the latest stuff and saw about Joe, I am sorry to hear that. I remember he had some health issues and I pray for his family. You guys were mostly right about what I was doing with my time, just trying to maximize what little I have had with my family. I promise not to be a douche and stay away for so long

And, to Bob and all the parents (including step-parents, pseudo-parents, or whatever you are at the moment) on the board, it always puts a smile on my face to see how excited you guys are about raising kids. A lot of us can relate to the idea of "finding family when you had none," and it's cool as shit that you're all doing your best to make sure the next generation doesn't know what that's like.
