Taco Bell being sued over "beef"

The meat mixture sold by Taco Bell restaurants contains binders and extenders and does not meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be labeled as "beef," according to the legal complaint.

Attorney Dee Miles said attorneys had Taco Bell's "meat mixture" tested and found it contained less that 35 percent beef.

Delicious!

so what is it?

JawnDiablo - 1-25-2011 at 01:34 PM

I haven't touched taco bell in 10 years....

Discipline - 1-25-2011 at 01:42 PM

I love Taco Bell. :oink:

clevohardcore - 1-25-2011 at 01:49 PM

I eat taco bell almost daily. The fillers in the meat are mostly soy based so does that make it more veg than meat?

lifeisabitch - 1-25-2011 at 02:29 PM

yeah but they can't say it's beef if it's soy
false advertising

XnMeX - 1-25-2011 at 04:52 PM

I have heard that even places like Wendy's that say "Made with 100% REAL BEEF" are misleading people since the actual burgers are not 100% real beef, they are just MADE usinf 100% real beef. The percentage of the actual burger that consists of 100% real beef is where things come into question. Not sure if it is true or not since A) I love Wendy's reguardless and B) I don't feel like looking into it. I just find it funny if it's true.

Is this gonna be a class action suit, cause I want in!

barc0debaby - 1-26-2011 at 11:21 AM

They are not seeking any money.

does not surprise me at all. I'm glad I always go for the steak when I eat T Bell. Fast food meat is always pretty questionable, but I'll eat it every once in a while. I remember I had friends that worked at a Arby's (that also doubled as the managers meth dealership...but that's another story) when we were teenagers, & the 'roast beef' was a green almost Jell-O like lump of nastiness until you threw it in an oven for a while & it came out appearing to be 'roast beef'. I'm still curious to see what the ingredients were for that

JawnDiablo - 1-26-2011 at 02:58 PM

I worked at Arby's for a day back in 89 and I saw this lump of gelatanized faux beef.
it was disgusting.
comes out kinda tasty but I don't eat that shit either

necrobutcher - 1-26-2011 at 10:26 PM

As bad as it is for you, I love Taco Bell. Between that and White Castle, that's the only fast food I like (although those are probably 2 of the worst).

BDx13 - 1-26-2011 at 10:41 PM

i wonder if the steak is steak and if the chicken is chicken? i only eat the bell like once a year, but when i do, i go for that high end shit!

Jason the Magnificent - 1-27-2011 at 06:19 AM

I cant imagine having to rely on Taco Bell as a source for Mexican food. It's downright horrifying.

spyderdog - 1-27-2011 at 07:03 AM

considering that mcdonalds beef is 60% "natural meat filler" (aka farmed earth worms) this is down right terrifying

fast food will be the death of this country

Jason the Magnificent - 1-27-2011 at 07:20 AM

It all comes from corn anyway in this country.

jonnynewbreed - 1-27-2011 at 09:45 AM

I do not eat fast food...ever. Subway is about as fast food as I ever get and that is only when the festival is in full production and I don't have time for a sit down meal.

If more people looked at 'fast' ethnic food we'd be a lot healthier. Sushi is designed as fast food on the go as are any number of ethnic dishes served up healthy, cheap and very fast.

NOTHING cheap about Sushi here unless you know how to make it yourself. Probably one of the more expenisve items around here.

DaveMoral - 1-27-2011 at 12:09 PM

I'd support Taco Bell making all their meat 100% vegetarian! haha.

MattyA - 1-27-2011 at 12:41 PM

This is why I don't eat fast food, never liked taco bell. The only fast food chain I ever ate at was BK, and I don't even eat there anymore.
