Does it make anyone else hapy when they see a dad or mom take their 13 year old kid to a punk or hardcore show, shits heartwarming

you mean like, the parents bring the kid to the show they're going to? or mom and dad pull the station wagon and honk for little billy at 10pm?

no i mean like a dad taking his 13 year old kid to a hardcore show and like staying there with him, im sure most kids would be embarresed by it
(including myself at that age) but i thinks its kinda of rad for a parent to do that

yeah, i'm sure most would be totally freaked out. and the other kids that age wouldn't want the parent there either- cause you know, they're busy
asserting their independence at that age!
i wonder if this is kinda unique to people of our generation. i mean i know PLENTY of guys in their early 30s with kids 10-14 years old that have
similar interests - skateboarding, surfing, music. how many of us were taken out to the discos as kids by our parents, and are still into that scene?

When ever my boyfriends band plays a show thats all ages my little boy begs me to let him go with us... and if there other kids his age there.. they
start these little kid mosh pits.. it's awesome!
My little girl however isn't much for loud music.

Didnt some father get sent to the hospital in NJ when he brought his son to a Terror show and stayed there with him? I remember reading about that a
few months back. If it was true, then I bet his kid isnt going to any hardcore shows again any time soon.

my mom isn't all about being in loud places with loud music and violence. but she does always love looking at pictures after and keeps requesting i
videotape shows that i go to.
it'd be cool to have a parent who was down with it, but i think it would be awkward at the same time.

it's important for parents to at least be knowledgeable about what their kid is doing. supportive would be nice, too. but, at least from the kid's
point of view, i'm sure it's easy to go too far.

One day back when I was in high school, my parents went into my room and took a few 7"s so they could read through the lyrics to see what I was
filling my head with. I guess they had heard Ian MacKaye yelling "What the fuck have you done?!" one too many times.
Anyway, they sprung this on me at dinner one night, and were like, "We don't think the content of the music you're listening to is appropriate." Of
course, they were sitting there with a bunch of SUPER straight edge records in their hands. I was like, "Everything you've read is about not
drinking, not doing drugs, equal opportunity, abstinence and vegetarianism. [even thought I wasn't the kind of sXe kid who participated in the last
two] What could possibly be wrong with that?!" Turns out they were still upset that 'such a positive message doesn't need to be conveyed with
obscenities".
Man, sometimes you just can't win.
