Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Kevin Smiths 'Red State'

I went to a screening of Kevin Smiths new movie last night. He is taking the movie on a 15 city bus tour and it doesnt actually come out in theatres until October. I normally wouldnt go out till midnight on a Sunday and wouldnt pay a premium price to see a movie, but it was a birthday present and it was a great nite.

the movie is about a small town church somewhere in middle America (in a 'Red State') where the church goers live in the church compound and are all related by blood or mariage. They are like an even more radical version of the 'God Hates Fags' people.

Its not a typican Kevin Smith movie at all! I would compare it to the Devils Rejects if anything. Its got John Goodman, Kevin Pollock, Michael Parks, Stephen Root and a few other people you might recognize. It was a $4 million dollar film with a $5000 special effects budget.

I'm at work now so I dont have a link to the trailer, but I really think some of you guys will like it even if you thought Clerks, Mallrats & Chasing Amy were lame.

I saw a couple interviews with him a few weeks back. I'm inclined to see that for sure.
