share terror

With all these sheer terror threads I thought I'd mix it up a bit.

When we were kids my father used to get his jollies by making me and my brother watch terrible horror movies that weren't meant for children in any way.... The Exorcist, Return of the Living Dead to name a few. Sure, it may have been a form of abuse but I can appreciate the jest more now that I'm older. Some day I will share this terrible experience with my non-existent kids.

My father-in-law likes to watch Pink Flamingos with people that have never seen it just to see their reaction. I was one of those people though I was well desesatized at that point by Gummo and the internet.

My mom was hyper-vigilant when it came to what I was allowed to watch.

Not really terrifying, but when i was little, my dad used to tell me that they were going to name me "Pep". For those of you who don't know me, my last name is Barone. This kind of terrified me in a weird way. I believed him for a few years. Sad, I know.

I had the same problem too. It made me want to seek out the most fucked up music and movies I could find.

I wasn't really allowed to play with any toys that promoted joining the military, even though robots, turtles, sharks & alien cats with guns were OK, & any MTV that showed women as objects, & eventually ALL MTV was out. I now enjoy shooting occasionally, would never dream of joining the military, & hate MTV. Worked out well I guess
