def. last time i saw them they were only able to play about 3 songs before the show got shut down. BDx13 - 3-22-2011 at 12:57 PM
the four or five times i've seen them since '96ish have been super sketch. music is always great, vocals are often...elsewhere. i'm just tryin to
keep the memories of the earlier shows fresh!3rdDistrict - 3-22-2011 at 02:31 PM
HR used to live in the warehouse in baltimore where all of us hung out and practiced and stuff
he's quite funny and peaceful. sure out of his mind, but still sharp to say hey danny when he would see meColin - 3-22-2011 at 06:13 PM
me & my cousin saw them when I lived in Portland OR in 07 or 08....such an amazing show. Ended up hyperextending my knee, but it was definitely worth
it. I'd like to check out the Denver show hopefully, I gotta get another job first, my ski resort job ends tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up BD! Colin - 3-22-2011 at 06:19 PM

starting with the tour I saw was when they went back to their
old songs I think....I remember hearing from some people before that who were a bit disappointed when they accidentally attended a Soul Brains showtireironsaint - 3-22-2011 at 09:47 PM
Last time I saw 'em was pretty hard to handle, I don't know that I'm up for a six to seven hour drive for that again. Musically they were tighter than
a gnat's asshole, but HR was gone. That was definitely worth seeing, but I'll hafta think about it before I shell out for the experience again. HR did
have some funny shit to say, although I'm not at all sure that any of it was supposed to be funny. His singing was painful to experience at that show
and even though I've heard good things about other shows he's done recently, I just don't think I'm ready to gamble like that. We'll see though.dirtysteve - 3-23-2011 at 11:24 AM
they should get the guy from rise, he is still good, hr sucks now. cant even watch the videos online. sort of want to see them once b/c i still think
they were a great band.gavin - 3-23-2011 at 01:51 PM
HR, on his worse day, and i have seen the videos....is still worth seeing.
i saw them when they were "good"...a couple of times
and i would go now as wellXHonusWagnerX - 3-23-2011 at 02:14 PM
I've only seen the once and it was recently. It was the last week of shows at CBGBs. I think BD saw them the night of the motorcycle helmet and I saw
them the next day.
HR today is not the same HR as he was in 1979 or 1989, but like Gavin said even on his worst day hes worth seeing! JawnDiablo - 3-23-2011 at 02:27 PM
I'd still love to see them just for a chance to hear those songs live in person, regardless of how crazy HR is.
I think I saw them in high school at the Revival in Philly.
For one reason or another I can't quite remember, but I do have the vague memory of seing them pull up in a car and a bunch of smoke come out the
doors when they got out.....sentrand - 3-23-2011 at 02:36 PM
i would love to see them again. tireironsaint - 3-23-2011 at 10:23 PM
Just to clarify, I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see 'em again and hope for a glimpse of the old HR, but I'm not so sure about taking the time off
work and making a 7 hour drive up, paying for a room, and driving 7 hours back when it's a total dice toss as to what sort of mood HR will be in.moe - 3-24-2011 at 09:07 AM
I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones, last few times I saw them HR ruined it. Half mumbling and statue like. I found it really depressing because,
like was said before, everyone else in the band was playing really tight.
Last time I saw them where everyone was on point and into it was with Israel singing.dirtysteve - 3-24-2011 at 09:18 AM
yeah man , israel did a show for them in brazil, i think, a few years back. its on youtube. its like night and day, the energy level. i know people
would be less inclined to see them with israel, but i dont think paying 30 or 35 bucks to "roll the dice"is worth it for me. they are just holding
themselves back at this point.moe - 3-24-2011 at 09:50 AM
The Israel show was a while ago. If memory serves it was on the Rise tour when they opened for Living Colour at the WUST. I've seen BB a few times
since then and (I know its blasphemous) HR never matched Israels energy. Classic HR was unbelievable, I think that is what makes it so hard to watch.BDx13 - 3-24-2011 at 10:01 AM
i saw them a few times between 89-92 and they were amazing. swore i'd never go see them with a replacement vocalist and that if hr ever rejoined, i'd
go whenever i could.
then, starting with soul brains in 97 through the last cbgb show in 06, it was, as saint and steve said, a roll of the dice...that i lost every time.tireironsaint - 3-24-2011 at 10:48 AM
I saw 'em on that tour with Living Colour too. While Israel was much more into it than HR was the last time I saw him with the band, I was still more
let down seeing Bad Brains with a different singer than I was by watching HR mutilate those songs. There's no replacement for HR in my opinion, I just
wish he was the same guy he used to be.lifeisabitch - 3-24-2011 at 11:43 AM
I saw them as sould brains, meh
saw them with john joseph singing... better
they played this weekend at sxsw and people said hr was on point vocally
would see them again no doubt
moe-i saw a youtube video of israel in 07 or 08 i think. they did a weekend tour in south america and HR couldnt go for some reason, so they called
him up. i guess i should probably see them before HR dies or something. i cant blame them for notdropping the name and HR and starting something new,
since they are getting up there in age.
