Somebody is going to get his ass kicked very early in this movie!

Jason the Magnificent - 7-18-2011 at 01:44 PM

Yeah looks interesting, scene makes it seem like Gordon knows who Bats is now.

DaveMoral - 7-18-2011 at 01:51 PM

There are some photos online showing a man in a suit with a ski mask on in the window of a hospital. I think Bruce is wearing a ski mask there, much like he did when he first introduced himself to Gordon in Begins.

Discipline - 7-18-2011 at 03:12 PM

Can't wait to see it. I don't want it to be the last one though.

BDx13 - 7-18-2011 at 05:24 PM

wait..
'the epic conclusion'?
wasn't there only one other dark night movie?

Discipline - 7-18-2011 at 08:02 PM

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight

DAK - 7-18-2011 at 08:43 PM

This is the last one Nolan is doing.

stateofdisgrace - 7-20-2011 at 09:45 AM

I think they use "Epic Conclusion" to make people think something is going to happen to Batman. Its a good strategy. I just hope Bane doesn't "break the Bat" and all that shit that went down in the Knight Falls" series. Hope its different.

DaveMoral - 7-20-2011 at 12:01 PM

I think Batman will be broken in a more psychological way. Not so much his back. I don't doubt he'll catch a pretty nasty beating though.

Dave - 7-20-2011 at 01:36 PM

WICKED!

DaveMoral - 7-31-2011 at 08:33 PM

Lots of set pics and vids hitting the web today from Pittsburgh. Batman and Bane fighting in the midst of a riot. 3 camo Tumblers used by Bane's crew.

Bane standing on a camo Tumbler after ripping up a picture of Harvey Dent:

DaveMoral - 8-1-2011 at 12:41 PM

Bump, because you guys need to see these pics I added to my last post.

Jason the Magnificent - 8-1-2011 at 01:25 PM

People are whining about that jacket on AICN lol. I think it rules...it's like that nasty piece of leather Sean Penn was wearing in Mystic River. that coat should have won an Oscar.

I'm not real familiar with the actual Bane character (other than surface stuff like the back breaking) but I like how it's him and some mercenary types...they have kind of a Mad Max feel to them. Nolan has more than earned the benefit of the doubt, really looking forward to this.

morgan - 8-1-2011 at 01:33 PM

Going to have to check this one out. Never saw batman begins but I really dug the dark knight.

Looking like Talia al-Ghul, Ra's al-Ghul's daughter, is going to be in the mix too. I don't know how relevant that is to many, but there are pics that indicate a certain character is just a cover to get close to Wayne and then BAM! she reveals her identity and strikes at Wayne/Batman.

All from the same shoot as in the pics above.

Definitely watch Batman Begins, because The Dark Knight Rises is going to be heavily connected to what went on in that film for sure.

ShawnRefuse - 8-1-2011 at 01:38 PM

BRONSON

Discipline - 8-1-2011 at 02:39 PM

I was surprised they went with Bane instead of a more recognizable villain, but I think it's a great pick. I only know him from the storyline where he broke Batman's back, but he struck me as really cool. They could do some cool shit with him.

Is Catwoman going to be evil, or Bats' girlfriend?

DaveMoral - 8-1-2011 at 10:04 PM

No one knows anything about Catwoman right now. Hathaway has hardly been seen filming. Very good chance Talia a-Ghu is the lady villain though. That character is actually the mother to Batman's son Damian the current Robin, in comics.

jcarter - 8-2-2011 at 07:44 PM

It would be great if the "epic conclusion" paved the way for Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns." Probably never happen...

MikeFromInhuman - 8-2-2011 at 08:16 PM

Could be the best of the three movies!!!!

PSYCHED!

necrobutcher - 8-2-2011 at 08:23 PM

This is one of Tom Hardy's previous roles.

watched him in rocknrolla just last night.

Jason the Magnificent - 8-5-2011 at 08:03 AM

Selina Kyle...Catwoman...underwhelming

DaveMoral - 8-5-2011 at 10:22 AM

Beat me to the punch Jason!

I've had nothing better to do this week but lurk Superhero Hype from morning to evening.

Yeah, I'm underwhelmed too. She needs the cowl for sure, batman-news.com is reporting they have a source that says the cowl is definitely in the movie. There are a few spy pics of the stunt double riding the Batpod down the steps of that building, and the bodysuit itself looks great.

I can't wait to see this.

Jason the Magnificent - 12-10-2011 at 06:43 PM

Long live Nolan.

DaveMoral - 12-13-2011 at 11:54 AM

So last Friday there was a viral campaign for The Dark Knight Rises called Operation Early Bird. From it I got 2 passes for one of many screenings tonight nationwide of the 6 minute pologue of the movie. It's at the Franklin Institute at 10. If anyone in the Philly area is interested i have checking it out with me, let me know. We'd probably want t get there at least an hour early since they overbooked the passes to ensure a full house and it is first come first serve.

Let me kniw by early afternoon or I'm opening up one of the passes to the freaks on Superhero Hype.

I get my shit together to go downtown and stand in line for an hour and a half to get in, I've been psyched ever since Friday.... and I get out to my car and the goddamn battery is dead.

Dave - 12-14-2011 at 10:24 AM

NOOOOooooooo!!!

Jason the Magnificent - 12-14-2011 at 10:48 AM

That sucks! Thinking about suffering through Tom Cruise just to see this at the local IMAX.

DaveMoral - 12-14-2011 at 01:56 PM

I will make that sacrifice.

Jason the Magnificent - 12-14-2011 at 08:44 PM

This movie is going to kick so much ass. I went to MI4, and the prologue was great. Also, MI4 was pretty good too.

DaveMoral - 12-20-2011 at 09:43 AM

BD, can we change the name of this thread to just "The Dark Knight Rises"?

Jason the Magnificent - 12-20-2011 at 11:08 AM

you should be able to edit the title of it since you created it? unless it's a date thing. i know i've edited mine in the past.

DaveMoral - 12-20-2011 at 07:34 PM

Done. I had no idea I could do that.

No, the last one was the Dark Knight back in 2008 (Jesus that feels like a fucklong time ago).

DaveMoral - 5-1-2012 at 10:21 PM

Nope, the Joker one was the last. Rises jumps forward 8 years.

Batman Begins was the start of it all, back in 2005.

DaveMoral - 7-20-2012 at 06:05 AM

I'm sitting at the Tuttleman IMAX at the Franklin Institute awaiting the start of this film right now.

yes

DaveMoral - 7-20-2012 at 10:01 PM

Definitely watch the first 2 because Rises is not in any way a stand alone film. It calls back to the first two, especially Begins.

clevohardcore - 7-20-2012 at 11:08 PM

Why doesn't the others count?

Jason the Magnificent - 7-21-2012 at 07:21 AM

Different: director, actors & story.

The Dark Knight is one of the best films in recent years period, nevermind what scale you put it on for comic book movies. It stands out on it's own as one of my favorite films of all time.

It's like Heat with the Batman and Joker playing cat and mouse instead of Pacino and Deniro.

bombidol - 7-21-2012 at 11:25 AM

First two are amazing. This new one is fucking terrible.

me too
i liked it a lot

DaveMoral - 7-23-2012 at 09:30 AM

The thing is, this movie knew exactly what it was doing... it was just one of the most frenetic 3 hour movies I've ever seen. It really never slowed down one bit. Even in the non-action parts. It was like BAM BAM BAM. And it drew from at least 3 specific comic story arcs. Though I'm inclined to say 4. Sorry, this is going to be image heavy....

The most obvious is Frank Miller's seminal work, The Dark Knight Returns.

Then you have Bane's introduction stories The Vengeance of Bane and Knightfall.

Then the linking of Bane with Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Assassins/Shadows, Bane of the Demon, Contagion/Legacy and the Batman: Bane one shot.

DaveMoral - 7-23-2012 at 09:31 AM

And finally, No Man's Land.

XnMeX - 7-23-2012 at 11:54 AM

I loved the 2nd movie, liked the 3rd, HATED the first. I thought the first was quite boring. I know usually that is how a trilogy kinda goes but I just did not like it at all.

DaveMoral - 7-23-2012 at 04:28 PM

Really? I think Batman Begins might be my favorite. I felt like from that one anything was possible while The Dark Knight whittled down the possibilities as far as bringing to life Batman's rogues gallery.

Jason the Magnificent - 7-23-2012 at 07:11 PM

Yeah I think that's a great movie...but I don't have any interest in seeing it again, at this point we should never EVER have anyone retell the origin of Batman or Superman or Spiderman again. Too much time devoted to something even non fanboys know by heart.

Whereas I could watch Dark Knight an endless amount of times.

All the Ra's al Ghul stuff was VERY boring to me.

Man of Steel is definitely re-doing the origin, but what I've seen is looking really really good. Very different approach, hopefully.

But I agree, there's no need for Batman's origins to be told again. When they do a new wave of Batman movies(5-8 years down the road I think, but some of that depends on when they do a Justice League movie... which could build from Man of Steel if that's a hit) they need to just pick up with him in the swing of things. Though I want a marked visual departure from what Christopher Nolan has done. Like, the Batsuit I'd like to see in the black and grey of the comics and more akin to the kind of materials used for Captain America in The Avengers.

Jason the Magnificent - 7-25-2012 at 07:05 AM

Saw DKR last night thought it was a great movie, pretty epic in scale. A little too big at some points but I can't wait to see it again in a couple weeks with my nephew.

Ultimately it falls short of Dark Knight for me, but not by a whole lot. I'd say 2, 3 and 1 are the order I'd put them in, in terms of favorites.

How could you not be grinning ear to ear when the lights go off in that motorcycle chase and you hear that cycle?

Jason the Magnificent - 7-25-2012 at 07:06 AM

and yeah I'm dreading Man of Steel for that reason....but as far as I'm concerned with Michael Shannon as Zod they can do whatever the hell they want and theyve got my ticket.

morgan - 7-25-2012 at 05:58 PM

Saw DKR the other night. I liked it but I still prefer the other 2 over this one.

Discipline - 12-5-2012 at 12:05 PM

Finally saw Dark Knight Rises last night and was blown away. It was a bit different than I expected, but I LOVED it. Now I really wish I had seen it on the big screen.

DaveMoral - 12-6-2012 at 08:49 AM

I'll be picking it up today or tomorrow. I've got a $20 gift card from Best Buy, so I'll only be spending $5.

Discipline - 12-6-2012 at 01:18 PM

I watched on demand but I'm going to pick up the dvd next week. Amazon.ca had a pre-order deal for all three Nolan flicks in a Blu-Ray box set for $30. If I didn't already have the first two movies I would have grabbed that.

BDx13 - 12-6-2012 at 08:57 PM

never got to the theater to see, so i just added to the netflix queue.

DaveMoral - 12-7-2012 at 12:56 AM

I picked up my copy at Best Buy today, steelbook exclusive with an "exclusive" "The Dark Knight Reborn" doc on it... as far as I can tell it's mostly an amalgam of special features from the first two films and this one. I'll have to check out the Batmobile doc and the "Ending the Knight" doc soon. Tomorrow I'll be sitting down to actually watch the movie. I only saw it once at the theater, in IMAX.

clevohardcore - 12-7-2012 at 02:23 AM

Got all of this trilogy. Rented them and will finally got to say what they r all about.

Just watched Begins. Looking forward to Dark Knight tomorrow. The first one was bad ass.
