"joke" bands - where did they go?

Listening to Crucial Youth this morning.

Remember when there were metal/punk/hc bands that had stupid lyrics and were joke/fun bands?

Seems like the more "serious" and indoctrinated the HC scene became these bands got phased out...sure you had late 90's reactionary bands like Pitboss and Nothing Personal who were pushing buttons.

HC is one big monotonous paint by numbers mess.

Bring back Crucial Youth and bands doing A-Team break downs.

theres several artists out there who i thought were supposed to be jokes but turned out to be serious:
Eminem, Kid Rock to name a couple.
I thought they were Weird Al type of parodies.

I like the ISHC. Wouldn't listen to the record everyday or anything. But there are a few good songs on there.

They should release an EP as an App setup with controls just like a Powerpoint presentation.

PPT would be groundbreaking if they did.

BD, you know I love that fucking band. I work for a giant corporation and there is so much off the PPT stuff that hits home. To me it is straight up brilliance.

Calling MURPHY'S LAW a "joke band" is kind of an insult, no?
ML are the ONLY fun/party HC band that matters in my opinion so this sub genre starts and ends with them for me.

Yeah I wouldn't consider Murphys Law a joke band...where NRSV I probably would. ML isn't trying to be "silly" they just are what they are. Love both bands, I guess there's just a fine line.

I still listen to PB2K and Backhand. I'd throw XwidowmakerX in there too as someone here posted before it was a joke band they did and never thought anyone would hear it. I got that 6 track demo on my iPod. Empty kegs broken legs!

didn't say murphy's law was a joke band. after matty's nrsv comment, i eluded to the fact that nrsv playing w/ murphy's law & beantown boozehounds would be a great show. each of those bands puts on one hell of a party every set, so a full show with the three would be nuts.

what about mucky pub? i saw them a few months ago and chris is still a great entertainer.
they played the nsk/danzig scene on stage. chris came up in a danzig costume and chose a big skinhead to hit him. then they played mother. was funny.
