Anybody see it yet? I took my son yesterday and I can't believe how good it was. I left the theater wishing I was a gorilla.

I'm taking my son to see it as soon as we can get free time.
Looks bad assed.

I'll be seeing this soon, can't wait.

saw it Monday....thought it was great. I'm not a big CGI fan, but it's time I got with the times, & I thought they did an amazing job with it, & the storyline was great. You should show your kids the original Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes afterward. I had to watch that again last week before I saw Rise, & I forgot how rad it was, especially with the civil rights relevancy thrown in there. & I can't think of a whole lot of things cooler than liberated apes beating down riot cops.....

Think they already greenlighted a "sequel" to this...want to see it but just finally getting around to seeing Cappy tonight.

Is it a remake of one of the old ones, or does it have a new story? I've never seen any of the old ones, are they worth checking out?

it's loosely based on the 4th (I believe), Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes, which is a prequel to the whole series. You gotta check out the whole series, I'm working through them again as it's been a while since I had watched 'em. Conquest/Rise are definitely my favorites

After the movie my son said he wants to have a marathon of the originals next week which I am psyched to do. I think they set it up perfectly for the next one, I don't want to throw any spoilers out there but after everybody sees it you'll know why. The CGI was so good too. I particularly like how they set up/explained the different apes' roles in the ape society. Really well done. Lots of tips of the hat to the original as well.

Absolutely essential sci-fi. All 5 movies.

^^^^^^^^^^ I spit my water out laughing from this post. Never saw the originals, but want to see this one.

JawnDiablo - 8-14-2011 at 05:10 PM

We just got back from seeing it.
It was even better than I expected.
and my son also mentioned wanting to see the originals now, so I think an Ape-a-thon will be in the works.
yeah I really wish I was able to swing from redwoods too.....
big gorilla was fierce.

I'm guessing they can pick up with another one ...what you guys think?
