THE EXPLOITED

You a fan of them? What is your fav release?

I listened to them when I was a youngster, but lost touch when hardcore took hold. Saw them a couple times live. Had "live at the white house" "horror epics" "the massacre"on cassette. They are long since gone. Have Let's Start a War... on cd now, but that's it. Want to find THE MASSACRE on cd. Saw them on tour for that record and those songs were fucking rad.

when i was strictly a metal kid at the age of 14 or so, I had this skater friend who gave me a copy of Live at The White house.
I have Horror Epics, Lets Start A War and maybe one other.
They had a few good songs, but always seemed sloppy, and overhyped.
Nowadays I just don't dig em at all.

Have not lisetened to them in years. Kinda funny this thread was. Right below biohazard audition thread. Last time I saw the exploited they played with biohazard.

YA that was the second time I saw THE EXPOITED. With TYPE-O-NEGATIVE opening.

I don't listen to them nearly as much as I did when I was younger, but I still throw on some of their stuff once in a while. I always loved Troops of Tomorrow and Horror Epics.

I liked 'em OK when I was younger.....put "Fuck A Mod" on my ipod shuffle as a mostly joke not that long ago. Can't really listen to them much anymore

Love the Exploited. Sexual Favours, Fuck The System, Punks Not Dead...oh man, this band has accompanied me in my junior high antics. Still listen to them weekly.

^^^^ Never got Troops, but that record has to be there best in my opinion. All there stuff is hit or miss but that tape/ cd can play front to back nonstop.

I remember ROLLINS had whole tirade about them. Especially wattie and his fans.

That's the last I saw 'em as well....I think that tour was Fall of '91? Biohazard were friggin' GREAT at the show I saw. I hung out w/Pete from TON (they got booed off the stage/were having technical difficulties anyways)...we talked a lot of Carnivore talk. It's kinda funny thinking back, as nearly noone at the show I went to seemed to know who he was or give a shit about him (or anyone else in TON for that matter). Fast forward a couple of years, "Bloody Kisses" starts selling and "Black No. 1" starts to get a lot of attention and every "goth" this side of Transylvania seemed to find their new rock god :P

As for the Exploited, wow, sounds like everyone had "Live @ the Whitehouse" - I think "Combat-core" put that out (Combat Records short-lived hardcore "branch") - I actually liked that release, I thought the echo actually sounded cool on Watties vocals...

Overall, they were always very hit/miss w/me. Definitely a bit one-dimensional, though I have to admit I liked that last one they put out quite a bit ("Fuck the System"). Most of the songs are fairly interchangeable, but when I'm in the mood for that kind of thing, that album does the trick as well as any.

"Punks Not Dead" and some of the early singles seem to be heavily favored by many as they seemed to become more and more "metal" w/each subsequent release and some of the "punks" I knew didn't dig the more "metal" sound....

I saw the Exploiited with Biohazard opening at Club Baby Head in Providence in teh early 90's.

it was on The Massacre tour and I had the CD, but it wasnt really out in the US yet so when I was singing along Wattie seemed impressed. I'm more of a fan of the Massacre (more metal) stuff then the super obnoxious punk stuff, but they definitly have their place!

Johnny_Whistle - 8-28-2011 at 10:33 AM

I think the Massacre tour was the last time I saw them as well. I went back stage at the Channel in Boston to interview Wattie for my college radio station. He cursed so much, I couldn't use a single bit of it on air. Had the same problem with Evan from Biohazard a few weeks before.

his book Get In The Van is sitting next to me.....just found one of my favorite lines...: (at some squat) "Geneva Switzerland........Dez had some fun with one of the punkers. He put in a ZZ Top tape into the community blaster. All The punkers started yelling at him. Dez told them the tape was the new Exploited album. The punkers were stupid- they all believed him. One guy started crying, no shit."
