CR83 - 9-12-2011 at 11:03 PM

Remakes of a long list of songs by them. Awesome idea:

I agree, but is "We Stand Alone" not on there? My favorite SOIA song.

BKT.

Discipline - 9-13-2011 at 12:36 AM

It won't even come close to the originals.

clevohardcore - 9-13-2011 at 02:00 AM

I'll so fucking buy it. Cover is great too. They have so many great songs they are bound to not put some of the greats on it so ya can't blame them. I do agree with BTK on the "WE STAND ALONE" though.

XHonusWagnerX - 9-13-2011 at 05:07 AM

why not Step Down or Scratch the Surface? Are they to 'new' to be on an album like that?

the cover art is great!!!

Jason the Magnificent - 9-13-2011 at 06:27 AM

Drummer Armand Majidi says, "This whole thing is partially because of working with Tue Madsen — the man who has finally made SICK OF IT ALL sound the way we should in the studio."

I hate when bands say things like this...your past albums sounded like they should have sounded...that's why they're classic and that's why people love you. That said, I'll probably give this a listen before it gets shelved indefinitely, their new songs are all extremely boring so it'll be fun to see how they interpret older stuff now.

MikeFromInhuman - 9-13-2011 at 07:56 AM

Looking forward to this!

Mark Lind - 9-13-2011 at 09:08 AM

Is this being released in the US?

Bands usually do this stuff because of licensing issues with their previous record labels. It was probably cheaper for them to re-record and release an album of old songs than it was for them to buy back the masters from their previous labels and have them re-issued. I like it because it evens out the mastering sounds on my iPod.

BDx13 - 9-13-2011 at 10:16 AM

i'm definitely interested in hearing this. can't imagine how many times I listened to that first 7" and full length.

mark, same thought crossed my mind when the release so clearly mentioned just the Euro availability.

JawnDiablo - 9-13-2011 at 03:00 PM

Might be cool.
I can understand re-doing old stuff that got released with poor / low production quality.
We Stand Alone should be on it though.
That being said, I think the originals still stand up well.
It's like I said to a friend one time, like if Master Of Puppets was produced using the same heavy thick quality found on a typical Hatebreed release, how badassed would it be....well bad example cuz most of you don't like either of those bands, but you get what I am saying.

I wish Biohazard had redone or remastered Urban Discipline.
Tha t record's qualitry is so low that even if i put it on in the car all the way up its low.

Roadrunner did a remastered version. They did the same with an Obituary album. It also included the demos for some songs off of each album. I never felt the remaster really sounded any different.

JawnDiablo - 9-14-2011 at 06:03 AM

more like a re-package

clevohardcore - 9-14-2011 at 12:48 PM

BIOHAZARD should re-release the self titled. I love the record even the shitty studio sound, but I can't help but imagine what it would sound like remastered. I wont like it as much but it deserves some justice.

Same here!
I play that cd when I dj and always have to turn it WAY up. The one I have is def an earlier version from around the release date, 1992.

morgan - 9-15-2011 at 08:59 PM

I got into SOIA pretty late so I am definitely going to have to check this out.

Jason the Magnificent - 10-17-2011 at 05:34 PM

new Us vs Them up...

https://www.facebook.com/sickofitallny?v=app_178091127385&ap...

sorry...but this sounds like listening to the song on a cassette player that stretching and about to eat the tape.

SS76 - 10-17-2011 at 06:46 PM

Us vs Them has always been one of my favorite SOIA songs. I think the re-recorded version sounds great!

lifeisabitch - 10-17-2011 at 07:10 PM

one of my favorite songs, but it doesn't feel like it has the same energy...

Jason the Magnificent - 10-17-2011 at 07:22 PM

yeah way too slow and "moshy"

clevohardcore - 10-18-2011 at 12:26 PM

They sound great.

Discipline - 10-18-2011 at 01:34 PM

Checked out Us vs Them and Built to last and thought they both sucked.

clevohardcore - 10-19-2011 at 03:22 PM

See I don't get that. I'm all about taste appeal and individual preference, but I guess this is like my version of being partisan politics. I am partial to SOIA as a band that I will like everyhting they ever do. They are like a completely trustworthy friend. They will never betray you as a band, ever. I hope they never prove me wrong, but I will always wave the SOIA flag until they do.

I look at this record the same way I did when Suicidal Tendencies re-recorded their first album in its entirety. Why mess with greatness. I love SOIA and own all of their albums, but this one I won't be buying.

clevohardcore - 10-19-2011 at 08:14 PM

I see your point, but I even dig the ST re- release cd. It certainly aint golden like the original songs but I dig the updates. Thing is unless SOIA do what AF did and play the entire recording as it was back in the day, those songs will never sound like the originals live. I feel ya on the originals. Nothing like spinning "blood, sweat and no tears, or biohazard self titled in all its shitty recording glory. It takes you back to when it first blew you away.

^^^ FUCK YES!

Jason the Magnificent - 10-19-2011 at 09:20 PM

The stuff of built to last is kind of not even old enough to require a re-recording.

clevohardcore - 10-19-2011 at 10:58 PM

I remember interviews form the last record and they were going off about how much they prefer this madson guy as a producer verses previous people they worked with. Saying shit like he makes soia sound like they wanted.

Discipline - 10-19-2011 at 11:20 PM

Might be worth picking up just for the dvd release of The Story so Far.

I know. I haven't had a vcr in 10 years and that was the only option for it.
