Reunions

Thats Life - 7-8-2005 at 09:43 AM

how's everyone feel about these?

I guess Killing Time and BOLD are back as a full time band now?

Do you think new releases from these bands could be good?

Ungodly - 7-8-2005 at 10:28 AM

Only reunited or otherwise new releases by very old bands that is worthwhile that I know of- Discharge and Napalm Death.

I think there is new Obitiuary that is getting good feedback too, but I haven't heard it.

Good new material is a plus, but if the bands are at least mostly original, sound good live, and are happy to be playing I don't mine reunions or reformations. I know it doesn't usually compare to the old days but it can still be good.

BDx13 - 7-8-2005 at 10:32 AM

haven't heard the new bold, but a lot of people didn't like them the first time around, so we'll see what happens. kt i kinda feel bad for... everyone has been going nuts at their shows to all the songs from brightside, no one dances for anything else. too bad. the other releases have a bunch of great songs, they're just not classics like the tracks from brightside are.

rubeboy - 7-8-2005 at 11:09 AM

Reunions are gay, no one ever matches the intensity they had when they were young and pissed off. I've gone to see a few reunions of bands I love and always walked out let down.

JawnDiablo - 7-8-2005 at 11:11 AM

i never got into bold

brightside is a classic , but after happy hour, i cant even remember any songs off the top of my head
woulda liked to been at that show...did someone say it was filmed?
Napalm Death is kind of funny anyway, when you think about it, there are NO original members in the band at all, so when they play songs like Scum or anything off that release, if they still do, isn't it almost like a cover tune?

kinda surprised the dead kennedys never did a reunion

I'm not sure that they've recorded but i know they consider themselves band again and aren't just reuniting.

I love a lot of non Brightside era KT stuff. Happy Hour is an amazing record. KT beat out Sheer Terror i think even though i like sheer terror as a whole a lot more.

I personally love reunions due to me being a youngin.

Thats Life - 7-8-2005 at 11:30 AM

Also, not really a reunion i don't think but i've heard Biohazard are back to being awesome like Urban Discipline era.

i liked the first 2 biohazard records allot

moron - 7-8-2005 at 12:03 PM

I think reunions are cool since I never got a chance to see these bands that are reuniting. It's definately not like seeing them "back in the day", but whatever. Seeing a band is seeing a band.

Todd - 7-8-2005 at 12:07 PM

I'm not a fan of reunions but if you're gonna do it, do it right. I understand that the guys in Killing Time and Uppercut practiced for upwards of a year before playing. What's sad is when bands that never mattered the first time around reunite and people start acting like the Beatles are playing the fucking Ed Sullivan show again.

bystanderfanzine.com - 7-8-2005 at 12:15 PM

these bands should play once ion a while, but recording and touring is always a bad idea...

a good example is Burn

BL - 7-8-2005 at 12:16 PM

FUCK, IF BOLD WANTS TO PLAY AND TOUR THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS SHOULD JUST DROP THE B AND BECOME OLD, YA KNOW...

CHEERS

There's a link for the new record somewhere. I'll find it and post it later.

I feel like Killing Time could possibly put out another good record as long as they didn't pretend to be the same people they were way back when and wrote about what affects them now.

As for bold..if they release something good i'll be very suprised.

As far as GB goes i think that's gonna kinda suck..not much time to practice and it's gonna be way to full in CB's.

Luckily that one 7" is enough to put BURN in my top 25 bands.

Shall Be Judged=one of the best hardcore songs.

BDx13 - 7-8-2005 at 12:51 PM

i think the reunions are great for the youngsters and the nostalgic old folks like myself. some bands, usually the ones that just do it for the money, sound so terrible, they're better off not bothering. killing time was amazing though. anthony has always had one of the best voices in hardcore and he's still got it 100%.

BDx13 - 7-8-2005 at 12:52 PM

While we're on the topic...
What is the worst reunion performance you've ever seen?

Lariat reunion show. Scott J talked too much and their guitarist broke about a billion strings. Man their singer was a douche.

I agree that the reunions are great for kids like me who never had a chance to see these bands. I really couldn't imagine KT being that much better back then anyways. I'm really bummed i missed them and Underdog this past weekend.

The only reunions i've really disagreed with are YOT and BOLD.

I'd like to see Breakdown and Integrity reunions!

JawnDiablo - 7-8-2005 at 01:02 PM

saw mercyful fate in 93 after they got back together...i was laughing at how funny king diamond looked in person

was that at the troc? i remember seeing posters for that show when i was there a few days earlier for a starkweather show.

SAAAAARS - 7-8-2005 at 02:55 PM

the only reunion show i've gone to out of the million that have happend recently was the suicide file one. and they only broke up a year ago, which would usually piss me off if it wasn't to raise money for something special, but it was awesome. they are so good. so good. and i'll probably be at the GB reunion and i'll be at posi numbers where multiple reunions are happening. yeeeeeeeeah

moron - 7-8-2005 at 03:25 PM

I wasnt really impressed with the Bold "reunion" at CBs. Granted I was sitting in the last seat at the bar and had to piss like a race horse, but they sounded sloppy and I wanted to leave. Not being able to get to the bathroom was only part of it.

moron - 7-8-2005 at 03:28 PM

I pissed for a solid minute. Someone would have noticed if I had let it rip at CBs.

That was Linwood doing all the talking, i sat on the drum riser and wished I was home.

Yo, Lariat actually practiced last night

More info about this scott

Also about these reunion shows, wish I could go to some fo them, but I really don't have the means or ability to travel around. I agree with a lot of what dan said though, chance for younger fans to see the bands they have come to like but were too young when they were around.

Todd - 7-8-2005 at 08:50 PM

Hey Kyle,

just watch the DVD's when they come out. You'll be in better company, have acces to snacks and a bathroom, and you can go right to bed afterwards.

Only bands that I really want to reunite so I can see them at least once are Carnivore, The Misfits (with Danzig, Doyle, Only & Robo), Black Flag (with Greg Ginn & any singer!), Last Rights.

Last Rights would be absolutely awesome.

Pretty sure the closest you'll get to misfits just happened a few months ago.

yah I got to see Danzig with Doyle and it was awesome.

It was funny because I saw "The Misfits" (Jerry, Marky & Dez) the following week. What a differance!

brianm - 7-15-2005 at 12:42 PM

keith alexander from carnivore recently died.

i saw the misfits when it was only and doyle at Roseland ballroom..not sure what year but that was actually really awesome. Civ sang Mommy with them. Graves did a bunch of songs with em too. Say what you want but he was a good frontman.

Saw the misfits later on at hellfest 2002 with only Jerry and it was terrible.

Discipline - 7-15-2005 at 01:16 PM

Last time I saw the Misfits was here in Toronto in 2000 and they had Zoli from Ignite handling vocal duties. Surprisingly good. I was expecting Graves but Zoli pulled it off.

I saw the Misfits with Michael Graves on the first 'reunion' tour and I thought they were really good.

Seeing Doyle & Danzig wa amazing!

Seeing "The Misfits" with Jerry, Marky and Dez was sad, but NOT as bad as I expected it to be. Dont get me wrong they werent good! If nothing else I was psyched to see Dez and hear Rise Above.
