Top 20 of 2011:
I am not a “professional music journalist”, but I am a music addict and I buy and listen to a lot of music each year, especially Metal as you can see.

This list is NOT IN ANY REAL ORDER as music shouldn’t be a popularity contest.

Midnight “Satanic Royalty” (Hells Headbangers Records)

Disma “Towards the Megalith” (Profound Lore Records)

Autopsy “Macabre Eternal” (Peaceville Records)

Anathema “We’re Here Because We’re Here” (The End Records)

Drive – Movie Soundtrack (Lakeshore Records)

Sick of it All “ Non Stop” (Century Media Records)

Tombs “Path of Totality” (Relapse Records)

Vallenfyre “A Fragile King” (Century Media Records)

Craft “Void” (Southern Lord Records)

Ulcerate “The Destroyers of All” (Willowtip Records

Absu “Abzu” (Candlelight Records)

Sheer Terror “Spite” (Reaper Records)

Burzum “Fallen” (Bylebog Records)

Brendan Perry “Ark” (The End Records)

Ringworm “Scars” (Victory Records)

In Solitude “The World, The Flesh, The Devil” ( Metal Blade Records)

Portrait “Crimen Lasesae Majestatis Divinae” (Metal Blade Records)

Miasmal “self titled” (Dark Descent Records)

Negative Plane “Stained Glass Revelations” (Ajna)

Rotten Sound “Cursed” (Relapse)

Some great stuff and here and some new stuff for me to check out. Nice post Mike.

That Wolves In The Throne Room album is really good, you will love it. There is another Black Metal band from Norway called Svarttjern who released an album called "Towards The Ultimate" that is amazing. Just found out about it a few days ago. Check that album out when you get a chance. If you like Dark Funeral or Ragnarok you will love Svarttjern.

This thread just reminds me how out of the loop I am with new music. I gotta stop listening to old stuff all the time.

Mike...have you heard Cianide - Gods of death?...probably the best straight up death metal album in a long time. The guitar sound is obscene.

Great list though...that Disma is unbelievable.

Also, check out Bones from Chicago, it's dudes from Usurper...sounds like Cold as life/H8INC doing Venom and Motorhead covers.
