Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Superbowl of Hardcore bands announced

necrobutcher - 2-14-2012 at 10:47 PM

5/19/12 @ Webster Hall

So far....

The Mob
Sheer Terror
Youth of Today
Outburst
Merauder w/ Minus
Hazen Street
Suburban Scum
DYS
Tribute to Raybeez w/ members of Warzone (different NYHC vocalists will sing)

bombidol - 2-14-2012 at 10:49 PM

Its a serious line up so far. Worth it for Warzone and Hazen St alone. Obviously ST is a big winner for me too.

Six66Mike - 2-14-2012 at 11:31 PM

Merauder w/ Minus

what's that? Shared set with the Iceland band?

sentrand - 2-14-2012 at 11:56 PM

hmmmmmmm.

BDx13 - 2-15-2012 at 12:17 AM

minus did a early demo with merauder before jorge joined the band.

Yeah that Merauder w/ Minus is enough to almost make me roadtrip. That = HARD.

AWESOME!

MikeFromInhuman - 2-15-2012 at 08:58 AM

Minus was the first singer of Merauder from 1990-1994.

necrobutcher - 2-15-2012 at 09:04 AM

They are announcing another major band next week as well.

JawnDiablo - 2-15-2012 at 09:19 AM

Will Paul sing on a Warzone song?
That'd be cool.
Nice lneup.

XHonusWagnerX - 2-15-2012 at 09:47 AM

the guy that did most of my tattoos was good friends with Minus back in the day. I havent seen him in a long time though so I'm not sure if they are still in touch.

Time to make travel plans!!!!

ShawnRefuse - 2-15-2012 at 12:14 PM

wish Cock Sparrer wasn't the same day. I wonder how much Paul will talk about the Gecko with DYS :)

clevohardcore - 2-15-2012 at 01:42 PM

I wonder if BREAKDOWN is the surprise?

Discipline - 2-15-2012 at 01:55 PM

I can't believe The Mob is playing. I'd like to see that. Can't believe anybody likes or wants to see Hazen St.

jcarter - 2-15-2012 at 02:50 PM

On BNB Takeover last night they played a couple of recently recorded Minus1 tracks and he sounds GREAT! Hear it here:
BNB TAKEOVER RESTREAM

Jason the Magnificent - 2-15-2012 at 03:09 PM

He actually sounds really good but christ they're playing way too slow...that sounds like even Jorge's vocal cadence would sound out of place.

Should have way more of a bounce to it...part of what made his stint so hard was the way he flowed over those riffs and now he's keeping pace with a band playing twice as slow.

nobody has heard from glenn in a long time. Miss the guy and haven't been able to find him. I see Minus alot and he's excited to be playing again.

thats really to bad. Glenn is one of hte best tattoo artists I've ever seen! I dont have a lot of experience, but everything he did on me is 110% top knotch! I wouldnt have gone to anyone else if he hadnt quit tattooing and disapeared.

if you do hear from him tell him Josh said hi.

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 2-15-2012 at 06:36 PM

That Merauder w/Minus stuff they played wasn't new

JawnDiablo - 2-15-2012 at 06:52 PM

at the 2010 TIH fest in Philly we ran into this guy who knew my boy Volpe somehow.
not sure who he was.
thought he had something to do with merauder or something.
Funny guy though.
Had a dagger tattooed on his face....

Mark Lind - 2-15-2012 at 09:37 PM

It doesn't take a lot of math to figure out who else is about to be added to this show.

Six66Mike - 2-15-2012 at 10:04 PM

Born From Pain is still going, that's cool. They always seem to find 1 Euro band to throw in there.

Blood for Blood?

I'm hoping they figured out cloning and Cock Sparrer is playing both NYC and Boston the same night.

XHonusWagnerX - 2-16-2012 at 10:21 AM

people are saing that there is still an unannounced headliner, is that true or is ST headlining?

3rdDistrict - 2-16-2012 at 04:24 PM

Rancid.

random - 2-16-2012 at 07:09 PM

Rancid? C'mon. It'd be Old Firm Casuals instead. And Lars is a part owner of NYHC Tattoo now.

Honus, the BnB site says,

***Another headliner to be announced soon***

http://www.blacknblueproductions.net/site/event/bnb-superbow...

I'm guessing Mark is hinting at overlap between band members with the math comment, but I'm too out of touch to figure it out. My first thoughts are Shelter (YoT)? Madball or H2O (Hazen St)? Of course, Blood for Blood would result in an immediate ticket purchase from me.

SuchADangerous - 2-16-2012 at 07:50 PM

Rancid is the rumor I've been hearing. And they have an off day between Albany & Boston.

JawnDiablo - 2-16-2012 at 07:57 PM

I like Rancid.
A lot.

random - 2-16-2012 at 08:37 PM

I dig some Rancid and wouldn't be totally surprised if they were on the bill given the connection with Lars, but this is a very odd line-up and kind of show for them to be on. A ska-reggae influenced quasi-pop-punk band doesn't exactly scream "superbowl of hardcore."

SuchADangerous - 2-16-2012 at 09:08 PM

They certainly don't exactly fit the bill in terms of what they play but they're definitely a big enough band to headline & they've got enough ties to NYHC bands. I guess we'll see.

BDx13 - 2-16-2012 at 10:03 PM

i don't think i've ever actually listened to rancid.

That's kind of where I was going with it. Some people have been saying they're gonna make a secret appearance at the Boston Cocksparrer show but now that I'm seeing this I bet you $1 they are the headliner.

SuchADangerous - 2-17-2012 at 02:18 AM

For the better part of this week all I've heard is Rancid headlining BNB.

I'd thought about them maybe showing at Cock Sparrer before that, though.

as a fellow bass player (who is not very good) I agree. Matt Freeman is an animal. Its worth listening to just for the bass lines!!

*edit - just to clarify, I'm saying that I'm not very good and I'm not saying that Jason is not good because thats far from the truth!

mattybar - 2-17-2012 at 12:07 PM

Agreed on Matt Freeman.
I'm not a huge Rancid fan but i caught em a couple of times in the 90s and the dude is undeniably a champion on the bass.

JawnDiablo - 2-17-2012 at 12:16 PM

dude shreds on the bass....

Self titled album. Their first album is what you want. I love everything they have ever done, easily one of my favorite bands. However, the first album is a great place to start.

BKT.

necrobutcher - 3-14-2012 at 12:13 AM

Yup, it is Rancid.

sentrand - 3-14-2012 at 12:15 AM
