I think they started out as Clittallica. Not joking.

Jesus...I thought Chicago was the only place that did this shit. We have more fucking "tribute" bands than original bands it seems like. Any day of the week you can go to a club and see some bozos pretending to be Metallica, Zep, Rush, ACDC etc etc.

do the real bands see any money from the tribute bands? just wondering cuz of all the bitching metallica did over napster.

I can't imagine so. For the most part these bands are playing for beer and to show their g/F's how close they can get their bangs to look like Geddy Lee's.

Metallica would probably spend more in gas driving to their lawyers office than that band got paid for that gig.

There may be a tiny amount paid to the original bands. I know a couple people who have bars/clubs that have to pay ASCAP fees for the performance of copyrighted music in their venues. It's a flat fee they have to pay every year to cover that stuff. Probably ends up to a quarter of a penny a year to the original band.

I don't think the have to pay a dime, but now totally sure.
IMO it only helps Metallica.

Anyway, they are great.

I saw them on an all-girl metal show with Queen Diamond, Thunderbox, and Judas Priestess. Big fun.
