Do you use a toaster oven or toaster to make toast?

clevohardcore - 7-15-2005 at 11:39 AM

My wife and I had a huge fight about this. I was raised by the toaster. Put the toast in the 2 slats and push the lever down. In 1 minute you have toast. She on the other hand ONLY uses toaster ovens. I hate ours. I'm sure it sucks a shitload of electricity just to make toast and it takes forever to make. Not only that I can't tell you how many pieces of bread I burn using it. Sure they are great for making or heating up things like other foods but I WANT A TOASTER TOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I only have a toaster oven b/c of the versatility but it does suck up lots of juice!

I was using it alot then went on a fast. My whole electric bill went down by about 25% just by not using it for two weeks.

Toaster ovens suck! Its all about the classic 2 slice pop-up toaster!

hollymaconmovies - 7-15-2005 at 12:18 PM

Toaster ovens take up too much counter space for the amount of use they get.

I'm gonna go make some frozen waffles in my toaster now.

clevohardcore - 7-15-2005 at 12:28 PM

Ya the space is another issue.

toasters are where it is at. toaster ovens are for making tuna melts and shit like that. although, i once lived in an apartment in manhattan that didn't have an oven at all (four burner range, yes. washer and dryer, yes. oven, no. fuckin' new york) so we got a convectional oven, which i kinda like a robust, glorified toaster oven.

and as a side note, i haven't had a microwave in over a decade. no room in the city, and frankly, no real need.

Me neither. Once I set up my kitchen there was no room. It just means more dishes to do from using pots and you have to get creative about thawing things out or planning ahead.

exactly. just requires a little forethought.

Toaster oven all the way. I make my daighter and I toasted PB&J's all the time. Nothing like melted peanut butter.

RomanticViolence - 7-15-2005 at 01:55 PM

Toaster.

I have a toaster oven. I grew up on toasters and I cant say that I really liked it. My stuff always got caught in the slats and I could never get them out. Ive been converted.

As for Duane's comment about no room for a microwave... well, I didnt have enough counter space for one when I first moved in to my apartment so the Mrs. and I searched around and found a bedroom dresser that doesnt look too much like a dresser and put that in the kitchen. It extends our counter space and we've got a place for our microwave. I couldnt live without one.

toaster. i love toast!

Dave - 7-16-2005 at 08:44 AM

Toaster

sid enote the only thing you need a microwave oven for is, melting butter for popcorn and heating up pizza.

;)

JawnDiablo - 7-16-2005 at 12:10 PM

KyleOz - 7-16-2005 at 04:26 PM

Toaster for sure.

clevohardcore - 7-16-2005 at 05:12 PM

I am in the market for a damn good toaster. I am sick of this toaster oven. Come Monday I will make toast.

BDx13 - 7-17-2005 at 12:54 AM

This is the $200 toaster we got as a wedding present. It's shit; we never use it. A $19 Proctor-Silex is all ya need.

sinister - 7-17-2005 at 07:53 PM

I use a toaster. But I have no idea WTF a toaster oven is, I guess we don't have them over here or call them something else maybe.

BDx13 - 7-17-2005 at 09:08 PM

this is a toaster oven. it works like a mini oven, in that you can cook things at specific temperatures.

BDx13 - 7-17-2005 at 09:13 PM

in other news, you'll be happy to know i got rid of my crap dualit toaster today. by coincidence, a friend of mine from philly was in town today who knew i hated the thing, and asked if he could have it. gladly.

clevohardcore - 7-17-2005 at 11:58 PM

Duane. I was going to hit you up for that bro. At least it will get used now. I'll check that brand out but I aint lookin to spend that kind of cheese on a toaster. Whoever got that fro you as a gift must care alot for you guys cause damn that alot.

clevohardcore - 7-17-2005 at 11:59 PM

Also I got to add Duane that the pics of the toaster and toaster oven is great. :P

BDx13 - 7-18-2005 at 12:01 AM

aaaah, you don't want one of those. you have to warm it up before you can use it. what is that?

clevohardcore - 7-18-2005 at 12:20 AM

Warm the toast up before you put it in???? I want to laugh but I'm not sure how to when I read that??

BDx13 - 7-18-2005 at 02:20 AM

yeah, you gotta warm up the toaster before you put the bread in. crazy!

Yeah I guess we'd just call that a mini oven here.

Here's my toaster, it's a NYHC approved version...

I have a hardcore tumble drier as well, covered in band stickers. :)

Ungodly - 7-18-2005 at 10:19 AM

In theory I would like the Hello Kitty toaster that burns her image in the toast... but not for 90 bucks!

BDx13 - 7-18-2005 at 10:44 AM

^ so would my wife.
