Bolt Fucking Thrower.

Jason the Magnificent - 9-18-2012 at 11:53 AM

At Maryland Death Fest next spring.

clevohardcore - 9-18-2012 at 12:13 PM

Still never heard them. I will youtube right now.

clevohardcore - 9-18-2012 at 12:20 PM

Monster riffs. Wow.

clevohardcore - 9-18-2012 at 12:34 PM

Mercenary seems to be the best rack thus far. Not bad, but I definitely have to be in the mood for them. Not my cup of tea, but hey, whatever.

MikeFromInhuman - 9-18-2012 at 02:50 PM

BOLT THROWER = one of the best Death Metal bands of all time!

Been a fan for over 20 years but never seen them live :(

Jason the Magnificent - 9-18-2012 at 03:11 PM

Same here, never got to see them live...I told a buddy that the only way I'd go this year (I'm just too grumpy for fests anymore) is if Bolt Thrower or Immortal were on the bill....well...

Jason the Magnificent - 9-18-2012 at 03:12 PM

There's a lot of good bands...just nothing I wanted to deal with 4 long sweaty stank filled days of metal fest for until now.

Is it me or do Repulsion and Pentagram play this fest A LOT???

Great to see that CARPATHIAN FOREST are finally coming to America!!!

ANTAEUS and AOSOTH playing together is like INHUMAN and THE LAST STAND playing togther....

Discipline - 9-18-2012 at 04:50 PM

Bolt Thrower are death metal gods.

panzerkreuzer - 9-18-2012 at 05:19 PM

bolt thrower is one of the best bands ever!! i saw them about 15 times or so ( one time with martin van drunen singing, and one time with dave of benediction) and they always destroyed the club!
what makes me excited about this festival is that the righteous pigs are playing there. i would love to see them.

lifeisabitch - 9-18-2012 at 06:37 PM

also playing chaos in tejas

BDx13 - 9-18-2012 at 07:29 PM

mike, i'm surprised you never saw them, living in NYC and all.

didn't they play mdf a couple years back? they played somewhere i wasn't up for going and i regret it. i'd really like to see them again. yeah, i'd even pay ridiculous one day ticket price and go just for them. i don;t listen to as much metal as i used to, so i don;t know a lot of these bands.

BDx13 - 9-18-2012 at 07:30 PM

clevo, make sure you stick with this at least through 2:30. one of my all time favorite breakdowns!

YOU SHALL OBEY ALL THAT HE COMMANDS!!

BDx13 - 9-18-2012 at 07:32 PM

wait, where are you seeing they're on the fest? it's not on the official site: http://www.marylanddeathfest.com

Jason the Magnificent - 9-18-2012 at 08:23 PM

The site wont be updated until the lineup is "finalized", if you click on the messageboard link it's there...that's where all the current lineup info is until then. However I saw it on their facebook update.

The copy and pasted lineup is current this afternoon.

They played like 3 or 4 years back and then did a surprise second set on the next day.

The one day Thursday pass will probably be $40ish.

Amazing band. I love Realm Of Chaos and Warmaster and still listen to them often.

Great live band as well, saw them many years ago.

BKT.

Discipline - 9-19-2012 at 06:10 PM

I'd love to see them play live. I can't imagine them being anything less brutal than getting hit by a truck.

you got that right! but in my case, it was like getting hit by three dozen nazi skins.

BDx13 - 9-19-2012 at 07:51 PM

fuck yes. i'm absolutely going to MDF this year.

Jason the Magnificent - 9-20-2012 at 08:36 AM

D...if you end up going to just the Thursday show for Bolt Thrower, be prepared to get tickets right when they go on sale.

Thursday night is the only indoor only day for the fest and has the lowest capacity. They put aside blocks of Thursday night tickets as part of the "full weekend pass", so the separate Thursday "only" tickets will be the fastest going tickets, especially with a massive headliner like BT.

BDx13 - 9-21-2012 at 12:23 PM

good to know, thanks.
any idea when they're going on sale?

Jason the Magnificent - 9-21-2012 at 12:44 PM

I think they said mid Oct. I'll post here if I hear anything more concrete.

clevohardcore - 9-21-2012 at 04:14 PM

Man I haven't witnessed so many get excited about a band like this since RINGWORM released birth is pain and started playing again. I don't get it. Not my cup of tea I guess. I'm not dissing them, but I'm surprised they are getting such a reaction from all you.

Jason the Magnificent - 9-21-2012 at 05:19 PM

Probably one of the most legendary death metal bands of all time...who play out once or twice a year (and almost never the US anymore) and have never recorded a bad note of music...no hype...no compromise...

clevohardcore - 9-22-2012 at 12:41 AM

I will say everything I checked out was consistent.

Jason the Magnificent - 10-1-2012 at 05:47 PM

October 15th for the tickets supposedly. Be interesting to see all the punk/hc bands they get for the adjacent venue.

We're a day early with this announcement, but we can finally let you know where MDF XI will be taking place.

In a nutshell, we will be returning to the property formerly known as Sonar, and will be at least doubling the amount of outside space that we've been used to utilizing. We realize that it's a bit of a mind fuck to wait around for a few months just to hear that the fest is returning to the same place, but truth be told, the other places we looked at were either not able to give us a definite answer anytime soon, and/or had too many inconveniences that we did not want to put the fans through. During the venue search, it was brought to our attention that the new owners of the property were willing to collaborate with us, so we decided to go through with returning to a familiar place that is close to the hotels and conveniences of downtown Baltimore.

The additional space outside will allow us to comfortably accommodate the crowd, and will allow more room for the MDF vendor village, food vendors/food trucks, places to sit, and other new additions like misting tents to escape the possibility of it being hotter than it should be that weekend. There will be two outside stages plus the stage inside. Due to the new configuration outside, the placement of the outside stages will likely be different.
As for the building itself, there are some renovations currently taking place, but the rooms will be used exactly how they have been in the past, and it will be air conditioned throughout.

We would also like to announce the addition of a second inside stage at Baltimore Soundstage, which is a 1/2 mile walk away from the former Sonar (at 124 Market Place), and will be used from Friday-Sunday. This will be a smaller show without a barricade that will feature mostly hardcore and punk bands, and it will be scheduled in a way that should not conflict with anything going on at the former Sonar compound. All of the bands for this stage will be included in next week's announcement on October 9th.

Dates to mark on your calendar:

October 2 - We'll post the info about where MDF XI will take place.

October 9 - The final confirmed bands will be announced.

October 15 - Tickets will go on sale. It is likely that only multi-day passes will go on sale on this date. We're in the process of determining who will play on each day, which could take until the end of October. As soon as a list of bands for each day is posted, single day tickets will go on sale as well.

and here is a current list of confirmed bands:

DaveMoral - 10-13-2012 at 07:10 AM

Damn. Bolt Thrower and Carcass...

Discipline - 10-13-2012 at 04:20 PM

I've never heard of most of those bands, but these bands would be cool to see. The all out cheese of Venom will always rule.

BOLT THROWER (UK)
CARCASS (UK)
DOWN
INTEGRITY
THE OBSESSED
REPULSION
VENOM (UK)
CITIZENS ARREST

Jason the Magnificent - 10-13-2012 at 05:21 PM

I'm not looking overly forward to Venom...but I'll definitely check them out...last time Cronos took his version of "Venom" through Chicago...they headlined House of Blues and played like a 35 minute set...was one of the most ripped off feelings I've ever had.

M'pire of Evil...aside from having a retardedly nu-metal name is Mantas and Tony Dolan (sang on Venom Prime Evil)...I missed them when they came through but I heard they absolutely killed live.

It's actually a really good lineup from top to bottom, some epic old shit, some black metal, death...some sludge some speed. lot of more underground stuff

Discipline - 10-13-2012 at 10:22 PM

I liked Dolan on the Venom stuff he did. I actually prefer the version of Countess Bathory they did with him over the original. I just look at all of the old Venom material and I don't see how it could be anything less than gloriously cheesy fun.

Yeah I love that album...the guitar sound on that thing is crushing.

BDx13 - 10-14-2012 at 11:28 AM

tickets tomorrow

BDx13 - 10-15-2012 at 09:22 AM

Ticket link thursday is up but I don't see the lineup for that day. All I need is bolt thrower!

BDx13 - 10-15-2012 at 10:03 AM

Found it on Facebook. Bolt thrower on Thursday.

Jason the Magnificent - 10-15-2012 at 10:33 AM

Yeah sorry just saw this.

Bought my 4 day pass this AM.

I skipped on the option for that punk fest add on...from $185 for 4 days to $215...and they haven't even announced how one fest will coincide with the other yet? You could spend an extra $30 and have every single "punk" band conflict with a main fest band...I'll wait till it's sorted out and maybe buy a 1 day if a bunch of bands are in a spot I can skip the main event bands for.

Jason the Magnificent - 10-19-2012 at 10:09 AM

Thursday (Bolt Thrower) already sold out. That was fast.

BDx13 - 10-19-2012 at 10:40 AM

i had 'em in my cart the day they went on sale, then decided against buying. i know i won't be able to make it down there but i was was thinking about buying them on the off chance i could. not happy about it, but i'd rather just know, "ok, i'm not going" than to fret over wether or not i actually can for the next five months

Jason the Magnificent - 10-19-2012 at 11:01 AM

Yeah last year Autopsy was the Thursday headliner and didn't sell out until December. Place will be a hot sweaty mess of fat chicks with too mcuh eyeliner and hairy dudes squeezing past you with their back zits. Cant wait.

Jason the Magnificent - 2-13-2013 at 01:38 PM

Playing Chicago June 1st.

https://www.facebook.com/events/445477525523253/?ref=ts&fref...

So glad I bought MDF tickets to see them lol.

Discipline - 2-13-2013 at 05:56 PM

Earache is re-releasing some old Bolt Thrower stuff on vinyl.

Jason the Magnificent - 2-13-2013 at 08:21 PM

That venue theyre playing in chicago is like a 4-500 person venue...and Benediction is playing too...that thing is going to sell out quick.

MikeFromInhuman - 2-13-2013 at 09:14 PM

Sooo pissed there is no NYC date...fucking blows.
I have been a fan forever.

BDx13 - 2-13-2013 at 10:07 PM

nyc would be awesome.

jason, are you still gonna go to mdf if you see them in chicago?

Jason the Magnificent - 2-14-2013 at 06:57 AM

yep, tickets purchased, flight booked. I could go through the hassle of cancelling it all...but I get to see em twice now.

JawnDiablo - 2-14-2013 at 07:30 AM

mmmmm Bolt Thrower...I had Realm Of Chaos and War Master on the IPOD at the gym the other day and envisioned giant tanks and tomahawk coptors destroying the neighborhood..the drums man......like machine guns....

Haven't seen them since that one scary incident in Jersey back in high school....damn nazis

BDx13 - 2-15-2013 at 12:47 AM

had to listen to that album on the way to work myself this morning. really starts the day off right

Jason the Magnificent - 2-15-2013 at 08:55 AM

The west coast shows are Bolt Thrower, Benediction and Autopsy...my brain cant even comprehend that lineup. Tickets go on sale at noon for Chicago, going to be clicking refresh like a maniac come 11:55. Place is going to be packed...like I said, it's not big at all.

Dennis Mc - 2-15-2013 at 09:43 AM

The place they are playing in Oakland is awesome. It's just an old warehouse that is now a venue. Unfortunately I've never listened to Bolt Thrower so i just don't understand the hype.

Discipline - 2-15-2013 at 03:17 PM

Dennis, if you like metal then you need to check out Bolt Thrower. One of the best bands out there. Realm of Chaos or War Master are a good place to start.

I see over a dozen bands I would love to see on that!

Discipline - 5-20-2013 at 03:53 PM

There aren't many shows I'm willing to leave the house for, but that lineup is crazy. I'd love to see Sacred Reich again. Last time I saw them was in the early 90's. Unleashing Bolt Thrower and Repulsion on the same day will probably destroy the building.

I envy your attendance......fuck

MikeFromInhuman - 5-26-2013 at 02:27 PM

My buddy got me a BT shirt at MDF!
And most of their shirts were $15!!!!

WHOO HOOO!

Jason the Magnificent - 5-28-2013 at 07:49 AM

Actually there were 3 $15 and 2 $10. Hard to beat that, I grabbed 4 of the fuckers. Impressive since $15 was a cheap shirt elsewhere.

Great time, but too damn long...I can't handle that 4 day fest shit anymore. Some of my highlights were definitely Repulsion, Benediction, Carcass, Weedeater (who were so ungodly fucking loud it made Obsessed seem like they were playing an acoustic set after them), Pagan Altar, Anhedonist, Antaeus, Loss (second time seeing them and second time my minds melted), Sleep and of course BOLT THROWER, who I get to see again in 5 days!

Sleep went over their set time by20 minutes (so Matt Pike could play the same droning riff for another 20 minutes lol) and screwed up sets for Pentagram and Venom due to some surprise curfew issue. Both those bands got their sound cut. F Venom anyway playing new shit. Repulsion covered Schizo and that ripped the tits off Venom doing their own songs.

Biggest disappointment was Vinterland...I had that band and album up at such a high standard I actually believed some pagan forest lords were going to come out in full battle gear...they sounded great but the fact that they looked like a bunch of fruit booty Mike Ness wannabe's completely ruined it for me.

Plus I finally got to have a Chaps Pit Beef.

Jason the Magnificent - 5-28-2013 at 12:48 PM

If you're really bored, Invisible oranges has a ton of pictures up for most bands throughout the weekend

great photos. god, i wish i was there.

Jason the Magnificent - 5-29-2013 at 12:47 PM

Looks like this is the setlist for the reaminder of the week...couple more gems and a bit longer:

Intro
(Battle for Britain)
The IVth Crusade
Entrenched
Anti-Tank (Dead Armour)
...For Victory
World Eater
Cenotaph
Mercenary
When Glory Beckons
No Guts, No Glory
Salvo

Encore:
War
Remembrance
When Cannons Fade
In Battle There Is No Law
