Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Rick Rubin or not...Sabbath will never be this good again...

They have an Ep and a full length that are both stellar...that track is from a new Ep that's just ridiculous.

SS76 - 9-29-2012 at 11:38 AM

awesome

JawnDiablo - 9-29-2012 at 01:07 PM

I'll never get sick of this style.

clevohardcore - 9-29-2012 at 10:56 PM

Really? That shit sounded boring. Don't get me wrong, it rocks, but its so matter of fact in it's carbon-copy-ness. Only thing cool about this is I want to see them record using all the old school amps and guitars.

Jason the Magnificent - 9-29-2012 at 11:08 PM

It's boring and it rocks? Not sure I can wrap my head around that one.

Six66Mike - 9-30-2012 at 01:02 AM

I guess this isn't the Orchid I used to listen to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G53Lan0o_fs

I could hear the Sabbath riffs throughout the song, couldn't listen to it all.

^^^^^ It lacks originality. It's not bringing anything to the table except Sabbath riffs and Sabbath gestures.

JawnDiablo - 9-30-2012 at 11:39 AM

I havem't heard anything "original" in 2 decades

Jason the Magnificent - 9-30-2012 at 12:09 PM

Yeah no kidding. How that can even be an issue with people who like hardcore doesn't make sense to me anyway. There's like 5 "sounds" that 500 bands ape.

I don't think those guys are trying to fool anyone for a minute. They know exactly what they are and they do it to perfection.

Sometimes you're allowed to listen to good music, just because it's good. I'll take listenable over credible anyday.

Some of the old HC bands still trying to do credible need some listenable clones.

Discipline - 9-30-2012 at 02:05 PM

I would have listened to this repeatedly 20 years ago, but these days I just can't get into it. I don't listen to Sabbath anymore either.

JawnDiablo - 9-30-2012 at 02:08 PM

I got that cancel your plans for a week shit son!

And the singers voice kills it for me, homeboy sounds like its allergy season and he forgot to take his claritin.

thanks for reminding me dudes

Listened to the song posted again. Talent aside, because they have in spades, it just sounds dated to me. Rather than copying everything Sabbath, they should try to update the sound a bit and add their own flavour to it.

Jason the Magnificent - 4-25-2013 at 12:38 PM

But then it wouldn't sound almost exactly like Black Sabbath still knew how to write good songs!

Discipline - 4-25-2013 at 02:19 PM

Good point, and very true.

SS76 - 4-26-2013 at 08:30 AM

Just bought Through The Devil's Doorway; great EP. I've been listening to these guys alot lately. You can listen to almost everything here

Jason the Magnificent - 4-26-2013 at 09:15 AM

Yeah all their stuff is good...but IMO this new one is by far the best. It's obviously obscenely Sabbath...but at the same time they're starting to really get their groove in it...there's a lot of weird elements that are also comparable to how Sabbath would experiment with different shit while still maintaining the RIFF.

Nomad, Silent One, Mountains of Steel & See You on the other Side are some absolutely ridiculously good songs.

Sometimes it's just fun to have something that kicks ass with the windows down.

Discipline - 4-26-2013 at 03:14 PM

Just pray they don't try to copy this.
