Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

I need a little help

BDx13 - 7-20-2005 at 03:23 PM

the sheer terror site is, i believe, ready to go. but before i launch the site, i'd like to have a few of you check it out and let me know if you experience any majors errors like
- the page doesn't load
- pictures and text are all piled up on top of one another
- password doesn't work
- can't get the videos to play
- etc

IMPORTANT: when you reply, i need to know what operating system you're running and what browser (including version) you're using.

here's the address: http://www.sheer-terror.com/home.php
here's the password: secret

MOST IMPORTANT: please don't spread this around. technically, this site is still underdevelopment, the password will change later tonight, and the url is just temporary.

thanks for your help.

Hey Duane,
I'm running Windows Server 2003 Standard edition, IE 6 sp1.

Everything worked fine. Occassionally the sound video stopped for a second but that's probably a bandwidth issue at my office.

Looks almost as good as the website you created for my mom.

I got the page where I had to enter the pass word, then that took me to the page that says SHEER TERROR DVD and it had 3 short clips from the DVD. The videos all worked and all the links I clicked on worked. Was that all that there is as of now? I couldnt see how to get to another page or anything.

Im using Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer on my computer at work.

I have Windows XP whatever edition here at work and Im using Internet Explorer 6.0 and everything seemed to work find. I didnt have the sound on, but I also noticed that the videos would freeze for a split second periodically. That happens when I stream por........ news videos.

I got no fucking clue what's on my computer but the videos worked fine.

i have about 12 clips of varying interest and entertainment value, and i'll add a few to the site every week or so.

i had built a much larger site with extensive content and features but it was lost in its entirety a few weeks ago. this is the "throw something together cause the release has been out for weeks" version. the other one was so dope. unfortunately, i don't think it will ever see the light of day.

The page worked fine for me, except I also got the choppy video (video would stop for a few seconds while audio continued). It's not a bandwidth issue cuz I saved one of the files to make sure.

I'm running Windows XP Pro 2002 Service Pack 2

I checked with both these browsers:
IE 6.0 with service pack 2
Mozilla Firefox V1.0.2

BTW, I spotted myself in the 3rd clip, yay.

nice. were you in the final cut of the dvd as well?

dan, just out of curiousity, how did you go about saving the clip? on windows, can you right click and get a popup menu that offers a 'save as' option? is there a save option among the play/stop controls? or did you dig through the code?

these clips are encoded at a pretty high rate, so i'm not sure why they're choppy. damn wmv.

I wasn't in the DVD. I got the URL from right-clicking the window and then clicking on "properties". Then I pasted that URL into a new window which allowed me to save it.

Yeah, I flew out there for both shows. A couple of my friends did too. I wish I could come out there for some of those August CBGBs shows as well but so far it doesn't look like they intend on selling advanced tickets.

Site all works fine for me, with XP service pack II and IE 6.02.2900.2180

Sound on the videos is fine, but the picture pauses for a second or two once in a while. Don't think it's a bandwidth problem 'cause i'm on 2Mbit cable.

the password in use for the time being is "secret" (without the quotes), all in lower case, NOT the password included with the actual DVD - that one will be used once the site is live.

moron - 7-20-2005 at 08:33 PM

the video works fine on the first one, but not on the second two. I can hear the sound, but I cant see the picture. Im at home and Im using Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4

edit
nevermind... the picture works, but it disappears when I increase the volume on the media player. Im not sure why.

Thank you all for your help. The site is now live at sheerterrordvd.com with the official password.
