Finally getting into Bolt Thrower. Can't believe I slept on this band. Can anyone tell me who the artist is that did the cover for the Spearhead EP / Who Dares Wins?

welcome aboard.

I believe the older stuff was taken from some old role playing games, but don't quote me

I am pretty sure the company Games Workshop did that art.

I just want the actual artist's name to check out any other work by him. I may incorporate that skull in my next tattoo. I know Games Workshop did most of their album covers, but the Spearhead art looks totally different. I guess I lumped Bolt Thrower in the "death metal all sounds the same category", with my exceptions being Six Feet Under, Obituary, Carcass and some Necrophagia. And now Bolt Fucking Thrower.

Where next to conquer?

Someday, every thread...will be about Bolt Fucking Thrower.

Lots of great DM out there... but unfortunately a lot of redundancy. You pretty much can take any band from early to mid 90's Earache though and run with them...not much there that isn't flawless.

As far as new stuff...DISMA, dudes from a bunch of bands (including Citizens Arrest) with Craig Pillard from Incantation singing (ungodly death growl). It's slow, doom death (so if you're looking for speed don't even bother) but heavier than everything else on earth.

Just finally got around to checking out this band today, Houston band (w/ Insect Warfare and Blaspherian dudes). Slept big time on this. Def Bolt Thrower influence.

mind blown.

DISMA ARE FUCKING AMAZING!
So is Daryl's other Death Metal band - FUNEBRARUM!

The two new Disma tracks that came with the LP on that limited 7" are absolutely nuts. Unwept in Oblivion and The dawn of Life Arises...literally did not miss a step from the full length and Pillard is peerless.
