Treating myself to another guitar in the near future.
I have my eyes on a nice Fender Strat and this SG:

anybody ever played one of these?

I really like it from what I have read, and I am a sucker for all black with active pickups.......

eventually I will buy both...fuck it, some people collect baseball cards, some bottle caps, me I will hoard guitars and such because they make me happy.

An SG is one of the most awesome guitars to play. This one is mine.

how do you like the pickups?

I have a friend who has an SG from the mid 70s with 3 humbuckers and custom wiring / coil split.
He might sell it and if he does I may grab it.

Right now the wife convinced me to not buy anything for a while cuz we're saving for a house.

The SG standard pickups are great right out of the box. Serious, metal, rock, it doesn't matter. What does is the amp your playing through. At least in my opinion. A good amp makes your playing and guitar that much more sweeter. A shitty amp, and it doesn't matter what guitar your playing.

I bought my black sg standard used for around what the gothic model you were considering was. Best of luck with your house saving. When you get the house, then you shall shred like a master of the six string.

yeah a better amp is on the menu too.
I would like an old school tube.

A friend has a Marshall half stack that he will never use again, so I may make him an offer he can't refuse when I get to that point.....

Right now I have a little fender frontman.
I live in an apartment with thin walls so I can't get too crazy
