I tried it when I was in Philly with my friend a couple of years ago and I have to say that I didnt enjoy it!JawnDiablo - 8-18-2013 at 10:27 AM
it's an acquired taste. Furly - 8-18-2013 at 06:13 PM
BD intruduced me. I love it. Had to have it and intraduse the husband on the honeymoon. He wasn't impressed. I think less of him for it.
They have it frozen at market basket (New England grocery store), I've never tried that. BDx13 - 8-18-2013 at 06:25 PM
scrapple, yes. scrapple sausage...not familiar!MattyA - 8-18-2013 at 07:08 PM
What is it?Furly - 8-18-2013 at 08:29 PM
What the hell is the difference? I'm confused. To me scrapple is just a 'slice' or 'patty' of sausage. 3rdDistrict - 8-19-2013 at 06:21 AM
it's actually sometimes called 'liver Mush'
Pieces like head, offal, feet, liver, intestines are all ground up with a corn meal.
It comes in grey (yes grey) loaf. I like to, and most people too, cut it into 1/4", an pan fry it. It turns a crispy brown.
Great with eggs, or on an egg sandwich.
They make it on the eastern shore of maryland. Pass by the plant on the way to the beach.JawnDiablo - 8-19-2013 at 01:00 PM
I'm not too sure what went into scrapple sausage.
I have only seen the concoction this guy put on Facebook.
he collaborated with some Amish at reading terminal.
I believe he works for a food wholesaler.
figuring it is scrapple stuffed into casings with extra seasoning maybe.XHonusWagnerX - 8-20-2013 at 11:09 AM
I had it at Redding Terminal and didnt like it, but I dont know if it was 'Sacrapple' or 'scrapple sausage' now... im confused too XHonusWagnerX - 8-20-2013 at 11:10 AM
what I ate was kinda crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside. it was a grey rectangle.random - 8-20-2013 at 06:53 PM
Honus, sounds like scrapple.
I've never had scrapple, but my grandfather swore by it.
Scrapple is basically a concoction of all the shit from a pig that you can't turn into any other meat combined with cornmeal and/or flour. Sausage is
just meat.
The casing on sausage is usually intestine. I'm guessing Diablo means scrapple stuffed into pig intestine to make scrapple sausage, along with more
spices to add flavor.
Ah, my mid-Atlantic roots coming out finally. BDx13 - 8-20-2013 at 08:38 PM
yeah, see, that's exactly why i'm so intrigued by SCRAPPLE SAUSAGE.3rdDistrict - 8-21-2013 at 09:23 AM

They've introduced more and more flavors (spicy, with bacon, etc).
All of these are available at my super market across the street from my work.
I can also hit the Laurel Meat Market and get whole pigs if anyone is down for a roastDennis Mc - 8-21-2013 at 10:58 AM
All this scrapple talk has me craving a scrapple, egg, and cheese on a kaiser roll. Breakfast of champs. JawnDiablo - 8-21-2013 at 11:03 AM
