Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Ramallah at the Knitting Factory

Murk - 8-2-2005 at 01:38 AM

Finally, I got to see Ramallah.

When I found out it was gonna be an early show, I knew there would be problems. Heh. Last time I saw Rob was in Pomona with Blood For Blood, Most Precious Blood and Sick Of It All. They came out and he said,

"We're Blood For Blood, a white trash hardcore band, but don't expect to see anyone running around and jumpin' up the air like Sick Of It All."

There was maybe 50 people there. Maybe 10 seemed familiar with the CD. Ramallah was on 2nd, out of 4 bands for the matinee at the Factory. I got there just in time. Rob comes out and says,

"I'm not usually awake around this time, 5 minutes ago I was sleepin' and been pukin' for the last 3. Sorry folks, ya get what ya get". Hahaha. Most pussies would call it off, Rob still gets it done.

He said a couple other things thoughout the show, but you really couldn't understand it, due to guitar, bass and drum noise. Anytime he did some kind of singing part, it was real soft. The bassist was on time and charged up on back up vocals.

Rob gave it all he had, but you could tell he was really hurtin'. Looked might he might've lost the ol' cookies a few times. The band sounded real good. They played the CD, If I Die Today, and Kill A Celebrity. The place was pretty much stunned, when Rob went acapella with, "I'd like to detonate a car bomb..." to kick off the song. His vocals sounded best on that song.

Towards the end of Sleep, they do this breakdown, and Rob said something like "this next part has bunch of kids crying..." and then launches into

"just take a look at the papers, your leaders,
they're killers, they're liars, what they do in your name
to make the bodies pile higher."

During the last couple songs you could hear Rob was warming up, then...once the last song was over, Rob just walks off stage, band starts unplugging. Hahaha.

Didn't bring enough money for all 4 Ramallah shirts so I got 2 shirts and the 2X7". The guy at the merch booth gave one of those real sincere "thank you" which was real cool.

According to the scehdule, they had to be in El Paso the next day. Them are some troopers!

BDx13 - 8-2-2005 at 11:31 AM

not that i know of.

cary thrasher - 8-2-2005 at 12:43 PM

they were supposed to play st louis last weekend but didn't. which is cool with me since i couldn't go. they played here a few months ago and it was incredible. i hadn't heard the full cd then and i was fucking blown away. what sucked though is that there were these three street punks right up front and in between every song they were chanting "blood for blood". eventually they changed it to "ram-all-ah". it was fucking retarded. then this one kid here threw one of them out cause he pushed a girl who was moshing right behind him. he was like getting her off of him but the one kid wanted to look tough in front of white trash rob.

There's one that says "If I Die Today" on the front and the picture kinda looks like a still frame shot of a car blowing up.

Another one has the Ramallah logo with 2 M-16s pointed at each other.

And one that has the logo and then under it has what looks like a bunch of people standing in fire and says Kill A Celebrity in smaller letters.

Yes. If I would've been thinking better, I wouldn't have bought the Kill A Celebrity shirt there and got it from the site. I should've got another shirt instead of the 2X7", but I really wanted to hear those extra songs.

Shirts were $12.
