Satelite Radio

XHonusWagnerX - 8-4-2005 at 11:49 AM

kind of going along with my Howard Stern post...

Who has Satelite? XM or Sirius? What are some good stations on Sirius? I just started listening to it and theres so much its hard to even know where to start!

If you dont have it, what are your thoughts on it?

Sirius. I like rawdog (comedy) and Hard attack (music). For shits and giggles theres this program i found on a country station.. called "Outlaw Country" there's a chinese cowboy on there that hosts the show... goodtimes!

i've only heard xm once, in a friend's dad's car. it was pretty cool - great programming.

this summer, the family and i are going on a ten-day road trip to visit family, so i rented a caddy from avis that comes with XM. after 24 hours behind the wheel, i'm sure i'll have a more thorough report.

others? i am really interested in this as well.

my friend just got a new silverado and it has satelite radio and i swear there was a station entirely devoted to Hank Williams. I thought it was cool, and was like huh? when i heard someone drop the F bomb....i dont know what the fee is for it though

I don't listen to the radio.

GabeTexasGAMC - 8-4-2005 at 02:47 PM

sirius is awesome, hard attack is great, the political stations are awesome, and the hair metal stations are cool.

Discipline - 8-4-2005 at 03:09 PM

Hair metal = lots of seriously gay shit

at first i totally wasn't into the idea cause it's another bill to pay every month. plus, i though, "i never listen to the radio" - and there's a very obvious reason why. but this is different. everything i've heard so far is that the programming is great. i dunno. if i didn't have to buy hardware AND a subscription, AND i had a car, i'd probably do it. we'll see how a week in the caddy with XM treats me!

I heard you can get XM with no hardwear and play it only on your PC for under $10 a month. You can also probably get a deal like that with Sirius.

If you know someone that has Sirius borrow their log on name and password and you can listen on your PC even though they have another device to listen on. Pretty cool & free!

i have a dial up on a 5 year old computer running on windows millenium edition. it takes 2 years to download a mp3...it'll never work online fer me

do either xm or sirius offer a traditionally designed component for home stereo systems, or are all thier receivers small, rounded little boombox lookin' deals?

JawnDiablo - 8-7-2005 at 09:22 AM

that is a good question duane, i didnt even think of that..it would be cool..

we fully support drunk posting here at the Thorp Board, so long as you don't become too belligerent toward your co-posters! (or if ya tell us you're drunk!)

I have no interest in Satellite Radio. I have CD's for the car, my whole music library is on my PC and I have the capability to plug my MP3 player in to broadcast to my radio. I think I'm pretty well coverd.

I haven't listened to the radio in so long that it's just not important to me.

they're all boom box set up. Sirius does have one though that is portable and has a headphones jack and you can hook it up to a stereo or a car the same way you can for an iPod. It was $99 on the Sirius website a coupla weeks ago. XM's portable is $350 last time I saw it. I've had a lot of people tell me that they've heard Clenched Fist on XM.
Anyway, Sirius is a completely different radio experience than you've ever had. For real. I'm way into it.
