Magazines

What magazines do you read/ have a subsciption to (excluding fuck books). My favorites are MAD mag and national geographic.

XHonusWagnerX - 8-10-2005 at 11:53 AM

I get Readers Digest for free, Im not sure why, but I read a little bit of it. Thats the only one I get as a subscription.

Other than that I only read magazines if Im going on a trip or if something on the cover really catches my eye. Usually its Maxim, Stuff, Spin, Entertainment Weekly, Revolver.... stuff like that.

CR83 - 8-10-2005 at 12:00 PM

Men's Fitness. It's got great supplement and workout info.

tireironsaint - 8-10-2005 at 12:16 PM

No subscriptions, but I usually pick up Juxtapoz (lowbrow/underground art) and the occasional tattoo magazine (usually ITA). There's a serious shortage of decent zines around nowadays. MRR sucks big rat balls and Hit List disappeared, Razorcake is pretty good, but of course there's nowhere around here to get it....

moron - 8-10-2005 at 12:26 PM

I just signed up for Vietnam and WWII magazines. I get the History Channels magazine and Rolling Stone already.

BDx13 - 8-10-2005 at 01:01 PM

tireironsaint - 8-10-2005 at 02:54 PM

I think there's at least three ski resorts within a short drive of this town, Purgatory is right down the road and locals get discounts on certain days and such, if remember correctly....too bad there's nothin' else to do here....

Time magazine ... although most peple think this is a whole bunch of yanky propaganda I think it's pretty good. Theres definetly alot of stuff in it that doesn't make it to the Aussie news programs.

Loud Fast must be getting TONS better if anybody can say that it even compares to Hit List. Last time I checked out LFR, it was boring as fuck, unless of course, you happen to be one of those thrash maniacs who love all things 80s thrash derived. Not YOU, exactly, just.....ah fuck it, this getting too complicated....

GabeTexasGAMC - 8-11-2005 at 02:34 AM

Maxum
FHM
Stuff
Juxtapoz
Skin and Ink

Rue Morgue

Think you've gotten it confused with another zine. The first issue just came out and it's mainly street punk/OI/Hardcore Punk type stuff. Here's a link:

I know it'll never exactly replace Hitlist but it's pretty damn good. I would read Hit List cover to cover when I would get it. That was a big loss when that mag went under.

godabandonedme - 8-11-2005 at 06:53 PM

I don't know why I don't get subscriptions, I always end up buying maxim, stuff, fhm, or some tattoo/car magazines every month to read at work. It's a waste of money.

There was a zine I saw regularly at some of the shops back in Austin that was all about the thrash scene, came out of California (I think), was similar to HeartAttack in layout and style, and I coulda sworn it was called Loud, Fast, Rules. Maybe it was just something similar, but now I'll hafta see if I can find it anywhere just to see if I've lost my mind.

THIS Loud, Fast, Rules seems like it could go either way just based on the link you gave me. I'm a little wary of anything the Casualties are involved with.....

tireironsaint - 8-11-2005 at 07:55 PM

Nevermind, I figured out what it was, Short, Fast and Loud. Click here

I just picked this up. I'm digging it. Interviews with the Ducky Boys, Brain Failure, DKM, the Unseen (Tripp has a column as well...haven't read it yet though), decent CD included, interviews with labels...I'd buy it again.
