I've noticed lately that a few people on this board have their own businesses (Gabe's signature in particular caught my attention). I was curious, for
those of you who do, what are your businesses all about? Do you have a website? How long have you been doing it, etc?

Ooooh, i was thinking, what do i have in my sig?
hahaha
Thats for Def Star, steves printing conglomerate!
hes going to take over the world.
Weird enough, ive only owned one buisness, a tattoo shop, in 98 or so... but my partner and tattooist got married, moved away and then got mugged and
killed in mexico city.
So there went that shop.
the only thing i do now adays is book shows in our small city of Laredo.
Were the smallest market in texas, but our shows end up being better than 75% of teh shows in the state. I think it has to do with the kids not being
all too spoiled compared to bigger cities.

I've been screenprinting for about a year now. No website (yet - haven't had time to build one).
It's a tough business to get started in - so many little things go wrong for the first 9 or 10 months (at least they did in my case) and you're
constantly having to get more supplies and equipment. It's really tough if, like myself, you do all the art and printing and everything there is to
do. It would be a lot easier if I had someone that could sit at the computer and take care of the art stuff and I could just print. You literally have
to almost be a miracle worker with some of the art people will give you to work with. At least every other day, it seems like I have to literally
rebuild a whole image because the quality of the art someone gave me to work with was so poor (and that can be VERY time consuming).
It can be a very rewarding business, but it eats up a lot more hours than your typical 8-10 hr. a day "real" jobs. I probably work at least 100 hours
a week. And I still have a long way to go and a lot of things to learn too.
