Ramallah - Kill a Celebrity

RAMALLAH is the product of Rob ?White Trash? Lind (BLOOD FOR BLOOD, SINNERS AND SAINTS) taking a quick snapshot of the current turmoil of the world with the angry camera of his soul. RAMALLAH is a horrifying window into the sheer depravity and brutality that has resulted from the mantra of an eye for an eye and the credo of "do unto others as they have done unto you". RAMALLAH seeks to expose the ugliness of the bloodshed we get a sneak peak of in the evening news. Rob explains, "We live in terrible times. People should be terrified and horrified and disgusted at what's going on in this world and in their name every single day. Ramallah is here to shove it all right down their throats." Musically, RAMALLAH blends apocalyptic metal and chorus-oriented hardcore with eerie melody to result in a potent style of aggressive music. On RAMALLAH?s debut full length, ?Kill A Celebrity?, Rob cohesively blends the best elements of metal, hardcore, punk, and rock ?n? roll, to create a challenging, disturbing, and thoroughly convicting, epic masterpiece that is as much political and prophetic as it is personal and revealing. RAMALLAH's main lyrical thrust is to uncover the death, disease, and sickness that is the world's current climate, and that is prevalent in the fa?ade of contemporary pop culture. ?Kill A Celebrity? targets directly the vanity and superficial focus of Hollywood and the divas and rock stars that grace the airwaves of MTV. The record also poignantly exposes the horrors and effects of child abuse, the stinging scars of poverty, and the global effect of suffering in a war-torn world. In the end though, it is clear, that the voice of RAMALLAH, though clearly angered, is one that is ultimately ??searching for a heart of gold to tell me the truth.?

Uh-oh! ;)

I really think this album is gonna be big on a underground level.

I love the e-card!

Mark Lind - 9-17-2005 at 07:27 PM

I don't want to jinx anything but I think if done right it could be big on more than just an underground level. Maybe that's just silly worship of my older brothers' talents but maybe Andy from Thorp could weigh in here and tell us what he thinks since he is the specialist in releasing, marketing and selling CD's.

It certainly has the potential!

If Ramallah scores a good opening slot of a national tour that's doing 500 nightly, 20-30 shows, that'll definitely help.

GabeTexasGAMC - 9-18-2005 at 03:42 PM

I think that with the weight of current times on humanitys shoulders now a days, more people who would have never thought to listen to this type of music are going to find something in this release.
With the levels of hate and dread that the world is expierencing right now, this is going to be like the dropping of the brick on the head of the world. I cant wait to see what kind of reaction this cd is going to get with non hxc punk people.

I agree with all of that 100% Good posting ;)

thedog - 9-19-2005 at 03:39 AM

i am wondering if Thorp is expecting anything negative about the album and its title.

unfortunately there are plenty of PC crybabies out there that i could see complaining about this.

In an attempt to address a number of points in this thread...

BDx13 - 9-19-2005 at 06:52 AM

- first, thank you all for your enthusiasm and support. I can't believe how many 'ordered it' posts there are!
- orders will start shipping today.
- I think we ordered 15,000 of these, so, yes, I hope it does sell out.
- there is a video, and barring some unforeseen issue, we'll have it up for you tomorrow.
- we are taking a number of steps to get this release in front of a wider audience. More on that soon.
- we recognize that some people might not agree with the messages of the album or may be offended by the delivery, but we believe that even if that is the case, this is an important record because it truly challenges you to consider you opinions.
- oh, and of course, happy birthday to crazyfists.

GabeTexasGAMC - 9-19-2005 at 09:08 AM

You are about to witness history.
Be aware!

crazyfists28 - 9-19-2005 at 09:13 AM

thanks for addressing all those points and for the birthday wishes...cant wait to get this album

Mark Lind - 9-19-2005 at 12:25 PM

I don't mean to equate Rob with anything that some of you may deem cheesey or goofy but I don't think he could/would get any more negative press than an Eminem or Marilyn Manson. His music is more serious and less cartoony but those artists have already set precedent of pressing the publics' buttons on lots of social issues. I think the time is right for someone to step up and slam these things down the publics' throats that won't try to dilute it with a cute video (Eminem) or a sex-drugs-rocknroll excuse (Manson). I told Rob when I listened to this album with him that I felt like I was getting a first hand listen to the next Appetite for Destruction because a) its brilliant and b) its ugly but true. I think the buzz is gonna start at the ground level with all of us and if we do our part then it will spread like wildfire and then Thorp can take it to the masses.

The video is gonna seal the deal for a lot of people, I think.

Go Team Thorp!

I'm even closer. Nothing here either.

thedog - 9-22-2005 at 12:34 PM

this is getting annoying.... mail = no ramallah

starting to think there is a conspiracy....
the mailmen are keeping all the ramallah cds for themselves

BDx13 - 9-22-2005 at 12:55 PM

i encourage you to contact merchnow and ask them when your package shipped.

thedog - 9-22-2005 at 03:03 PM

Duane ,
i took your advise and called merchnow just to see when it shipped.
the girl from merchnow was very nice, but had no clue what was going on with my order.
she said it looked like my order had not been processed, pulled, or shipped yet.
she said they have been really busy because of the new coheed and cambria album, and that all the internet orders have been backed up.
however i did not order thru the net, i phoned in my order friday afternoon.... she said it should have been done already since i phoned it in.
i think she was gonna try and get it done for me today.

i think everyone else should call and see what they say.

why should ramallah take a back seat to coheed and cambria

DAK - 9-22-2005 at 04:14 PM

Coheed and cambria suck.

crazyfists28 - 9-22-2005 at 07:17 PM

im sure duane takes offense to the fact that coheed and cambria are taking up prescious thorp space considering he just got some of their stuff this past week.....

thedog - 9-26-2005 at 12:54 AM

merchnow contacted me , thanks to Big D.
turns out the reason my order was not shipped was because the Out To Win shirt was out of stock and had nothing to do with coheed and cambria.
merchnow was extremely cool about the situation and they refunded my shipping cost.

thanks Big Duane and Mat ( from Merchnow )
