Bands you DONT like, but everyone else does?

XHonusWagnerX - 9-30-2005 at 09:30 AM

Just curious what bands you DONT like that most other people think rule. Like the kind of bands you almost dont like to admit that you dont like because people think your weird or stupid.

The Clash
Madball (most of it)
The Smiths

GabeTexasGAMC - 9-30-2005 at 09:34 AM

hmmm
i cant think of one.
Bands like Clutch.
I think its good, but not.. OH MY GOD THAT DUDE JUST TOUCHED MY HAND WHILE SINGING...
I saw them around 97 or so... i think... with.. Monster magnet.
Good jams, nothing spectacular. The singer looked like a lost Baldwin brother.

CR83 - 9-30-2005 at 09:34 AM

Sheer Terror and Slapshot. I know this will piss some people off.

serenity - 9-30-2005 at 10:44 AM

all of the schism bands
all of the revelation bands
pretty much everything on trustkill except for terror
alkaline trio
every veganband
every edgeband even though i am edge

so youlike classic rock?
a little led zep then?

XnMeX - 9-30-2005 at 11:20 AM

Agnostic Front (can't get past Roger's vocals)
Commin Correct (same issue, vocals)

I am picky with vocals for the most part, I'm not a big fan of Choke's vocals either. If the vocals are off, then it turns me off from the band all together.

i like oasis, ramallah, bfb, s&s and the whole fat/epitaph-thing

Voodoobillyman - 9-30-2005 at 12:33 PM

anything by rick healy, murphys law, gorilla biscuits, alot of the old stuff. I know this ones gonna piss some off, but I could never get into the Bad Brains either. I just dont listen to much of the hardcore labeled music these days. I moved south and found a new love in Honky tonk, not top twenty country either, the real stuff

clevohardcore - 9-30-2005 at 12:40 PM

CLUTCH
EYE HATE GOD
ATREYU

KyleOz - 9-30-2005 at 12:58 PM

Kids Like Us
Coalesce

moron - 9-30-2005 at 01:45 PM

I thought I was alone in not really caring for Coalesce. Neat.

Im sure there's tons of popular shit out there I dont like. Between the Buried and Me. Not sure if theyre really popular, but I find them boring. Iron Maiden. Ive tried to get into them, but theyre too cheesy.

XHonusWagnerX - 9-30-2005 at 02:01 PM

I think that I hate about 95% of the hardcore bands from 1980-2005. The bands that I do like I Love, but Im pretty pickey I guess. Maybe I'm just a dick! Who knows!

Bands that I woudl say that I love:

BAD BRAINS!
Black Flag
Carnivore
Slapshot
Murphy's Law
Circle Jerks
Slayer
Last Rights
Blood for Blood

Edit: Holy Crap... I forgot to put Bad Brains on that list!

See, I think if I heard Iron Maiden today, I would pass em by possibly. Not too sure though. But since I grew up listening to them, they ARE metal in my book.

KyleOz - 9-30-2005 at 02:09 PM

Wormed

Hell of a drummer, but after one listen of that I got bored.

Discipline - 9-30-2005 at 02:59 PM

Bad Brains
Commin Correct
Converge
Circle Jerks
Gorilla Biscuits
The Damned (most of their stuff, not all)
Led Zepplin

XHonusWagnerX - 9-30-2005 at 03:04 PM

Heres some more of mine...

Led Zepplin
Rolling Stones
Lots of NY Hardcore
Pretty much ALL New Wave

Voodoobillyman - 9-30-2005 at 03:13 PM

All that old hippie rock, the only one I dig from that era is Pink Floyd, Zeppelin is crap in my opinion, so are the stones, and aerosmith. Boring.
I see the repeating trend of every new generation regurgitating and reviving the music of the previous, and I must say that the renewed hair metal thing is getting old. whats with kids who werent even born yet wearing poison t-shirts to atreyu (insert any other fag band here) concerts. dumb, but funny, and I am not one to judge, they like it, and I wouldnt take that from them.

sinister - 9-30-2005 at 04:01 PM

Fugazi
Clash
Bad Brains
Iron Maiden

CR83 - 9-30-2005 at 04:07 PM

Beatles
Stones
Springsteen
Hip Hop
Zep

I love the Doobs though

moron - 9-30-2005 at 04:13 PM

I dont like AC/DC. Theyre boring as shit.

The doors

clevohardcore - 9-30-2005 at 04:57 PM

RUSH
dillinger escape plan
pig destroyer
faith no more- although I do like the record (the real thing). I don't own it but those songs were catchy as fuck.

Let me also add NEUROSIS. I have no idea what it is about htis band but I never got into them. I even saw them play back in 96 w/ WARZONE and INTEGRITY but neurosis fucking sucked. THey onlything good about there set was a 10 fucking minute drum rhythm break in between there set with the bands eye hate god and someone nashville pussy or something..

crazyfists28 - 9-30-2005 at 05:02 PM

couldnt agree more about dillinger...they receive such high praise and credibility and i could not for the life of me enjoy any of their stuff, along that line, i say converge, at least the jane doe album, never could get into that either

clevohardcore - 9-30-2005 at 05:11 PM

I think Converge is ok I THINK. I like that record JANE DOE but do not like anything else. I think they are the most tolerable among all the shitty chaotic spaz bands out their. I think it's because you can feel some sort of structure in their songs. THat is why I like jamming out COALESCE. I like that band.

SHAKO KEN - 9-30-2005 at 10:58 PM

lots of "post rock" bands. i can see what they're doing but they often lack originality.

godspeed you black emperor
explosions in the sky
mono
red sparowes
sigur ros
kinski

defstarsteve - 10-1-2005 at 01:35 AM

MISFITS

I have never liked this band or anything to do with them
I honestly think they are the least punk band ever...
Rob zombie and Glenn should have a kid together and name it expolited and turn it into a child actor just so they can cash in on the thing they are supposed to love...

If you love old films and music rad don't fucking use them to make yourself money

fuckwads

thedog - 10-1-2005 at 01:46 AM

youth of today

tireironsaint - 10-1-2005 at 03:44 AM

Fuck listing bands, there's too many. I'll just go with genres....
Modern Hard Core (with a very, and I mean VERY few exceptions)
Metal
Rap/Hip Hop aside from a couple old classics like Public Enemy and Run DMC
This whole "pseudo southern rock" scenester shit

Let me take a minute to jump back to that first one, I fuckin' LOATHE almost any band around today that calls itself a Hard Core band. I am shocked when I find any kind of HC band that has formed in the past ten years that even fits the definition of HC (to me) and I still get pissed talking to people about this because so many of them assume when I start talking about Old School that I mean all the bands that blew up between '87 and '90. Since when did that become Old School????? That's when I was in high school, not when HC was a new thing and certainly not when it was at it's peak. Gimme '81 through '86 over that shit any fuckin' day. Fuck Thug Core, Metal Core, Emo Core, Fashion Core, Bridge 9 Core, Youth Crew Revival, xxXstraight edgeXxx, Art Core, technical Free-Jazz Core (or whatever that shit is called), and alla that shit that pretends to have something to do with a term that used to refer to HARD CORE PUNK BANDS.

XnMeX - 10-1-2005 at 10:16 AM

One that no one listed, maybe I am alone on this one.... Ramones. Good fucking god! "Lets make one song, then make it 100 more times, but with different lyrics."

Oh, and I also hate the sex pistols

GBH? THE EXPLOITED? what?:)

clevohardcore - 10-1-2005 at 10:21 AM

those bands are great. AFI is not bad either. I hated them unitl 2 years ago and I gave them a chance. I got past the eyliner and I got to say AFI have many really good records. I DO NOT think the crap that they do put out now is good but unitl 99 they were awsome.

JawnDiablo - 10-1-2005 at 10:52 AM

i have a hard time likeing hatebreed ...sorry guys
nearly all of that new metal stuff up on headbangers ball
hip hop in general minus a select few
black metal

Discipline - 10-1-2005 at 11:30 AM

I admit it, I like hatebreed. Always have actually. Ever since I saw them back in like 96 or so.

Really? I always thought they were just derivative and annoying until I saw them live and realized they were also boring, stupid, and completely horrible.

crazyfists28 - 10-1-2005 at 12:37 PM

i like the satisfaction album and under the knife, but when they started thinking they were slayer and also making the same songs again...and again...and again, i stopped liking them as much. i'll probably still go to their anniversary tour next month though

GabeTexasGAMC - 10-1-2005 at 12:41 PM

hahahh the claws came out in this thread didnt they.
Hey kids, lighten up.

I have decided that we are all a bunch of women.

tireironsaint - 10-1-2005 at 05:55 PM

Just to throw another specific example that I KNOW the vast majority of people on here LOVE....

Madball. Everything after Ball Of Destruction is completely unlistenable.

Voodoobillyman - 10-1-2005 at 07:03 PM

pretty much everything on Victory, old and new with the exception of Blood for Blood, Hi Fi and the roadburners and a handfull of others. Everything on Trustkill, everything on equal vision, with a few exceptions and almost all of the bands on dischord, including minor threat, there I said it:) I do love Iron Cross though

It 's funny you mention the live part. I used to love seeing them live, but last time I saw them was on their tour with Madball, Terror, Hate Eternal and I think Cephalic Carnage or something. I actually left during Hatebreed because after seeing Madball, Hatebreed were really boring and dull.

Don't know how anybody can hate Madball. Sooooooo good.

Maybe if they've not seen them live... must admit I'm not too keen on their recorded stuff, but live they're something special.

Nope, seeing them live was the final nail in the coffin for me. I had gotten to where I thought they were laughable when that one record about how they can't hold onto their lollipops came out, but I went ahead and saw them play after that and it was beyond terrible.

moron - 10-4-2005 at 08:20 PM

Im not too big on Hatebreed either. I always avoided seeing them live, but friends told me they were awesome so I saw them once. Boring. Saw them again.... boring. Never again. Satisfaction is pretty good once a year, but Perseverance suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked. Maybe the first 4 or 5 songs are good.

Clash77 - 10-4-2005 at 09:51 PM

Talk about a boring show? I saw the Bouncing Souls twice in toronto, two completely separate occasions, and the lead singer didnt move an inch from his mic stand the whole god damn night. He brought the whole bands energy down, and was a total bore.

not a hatebreed fan either.
