tireironsaint - 10-10-2005 at 03:08 PM

I've asked about this before, apparently it's only available in Europe. Makes sense for a band called Stars & Stripes, don't it???

Discipline - 10-10-2005 at 04:00 PM

It's available from http://www.iscreamrecords.com/
I want to check it out cause the first S&S was fucking amazing. I'm hoping to see it pop up on ebay cause I don't want to have to order from Europe.

Jason the Magnificent - 10-10-2005 at 04:22 PM

This one is geared towards soccer hoolies. I'm avoiding it like the plague.

gavin - 10-10-2005 at 04:26 PM

i like soccer hooligan shit

Yeah, I really don't wanna order this shit from Europe. It's bad enough that Bridge9 was supposed to be putting this out (way back when Digital Warfare came out), but to have to order an American band's record from overseas is fuckin' retarded.

XHonusWagnerX - 10-10-2005 at 06:02 PM

I did backing vocals on it.

Its differant from the first record, but its good. Actually for what it is, its a really good record, but dont go into it nessacirally expecting Shaved for Battle part 2.

Heres a track listing... might give slight insight into the subject matter....

One Man Army
Running for Your Life
SUbway Stomp
Hang On (To your Dreams)
Just Fuckin Around
S.T.F.U. = Shut The Fuck Up
Relegated (for the Leeds)
Bored, Bored, Bored
90 Minutes of Hell
Storm Over Europe
Garden Goons
Lets Party

The only song I dont really like is "Bored, Bored, Bored".
Garden Goons is really funny. Its about the Bruins. Lets party is hysterical just because you know who it is that singing it. a few of the songs are about soccer/hooligans. Overall its a really good record.

unfortunantly I dont. Bridge 9 holds the rights to release it in the US and I dont know when/if they will. The band had some copies, but I think they sold through them at the few US shows they played. I could probably burn you a copy.

tireironsaint - 10-10-2005 at 06:20 PM

I'd love to get a copy if you wouldn't mind!

sinister - 10-10-2005 at 07:44 PM

It's not a bad album but definitely NOT "Shaved for battle II".

The lineup is Choke + Mark McKay/Chris Lauria from Slapshot, plus Tim Gillis and Linda Bean-Pardee. The latter 2 wrote all the music except for 1 song by Choke who also did all the lyrics.

So yeah, it has some good tunes, but don't go buying it just 'cause you like the first album.

Spoiler - 10-10-2005 at 08:54 PM

Damn,I've heard nothing about this until now....I gotta check it out.

and if ya'll like Stars and Stripes, you gotta like THE TROUBLE.

"storm over europe"

haha, the whole gimmick with this band to begin with was "american oi" and now chokes catering to the dropkick murphys football scarves and sta-press crowd to turn a buck. its pretty sad.

That couldnt be further from the truth. The record is about Soccer, Hooligans & other Euro related stuff because thats what he wanted to write about & thats what hes interested in.

Stars and Stripes was never ment to be a 'real band' so it should really be no surprise that 'one man army' doesnt really sound like 'shaved for battle'. Like it was said before, the music was written by the guitar player & bass player (who are NOT in Slapshot or any other hardcore or OI band) so there is a differant feel to it. If anyone is interested at all, those 2 from Stars and Stripes are also in a band called Frigate that has one CD out. Chris Lauria & John Bean were also in Frigate.

Lastly... for ANYONE to think that the Stars and Stripes record was written to 'make a buck' or anyone that thinks that it could even possibly 'make a buck' is crazy! Most hardcore records dont even make money so there is no way that a side project band, that NEVER plays shows with a CD released on a small lable ONLY in Europe is going to make any money at all!

brooklyn - 10-11-2005 at 10:49 AM

I got the Stars & Stripes debut ep "drop the bomb" from 1993 for sale, if anybody's interested.

This is the one I have, with the foil stamped cover and all. I got it at Vinyl Ink in Slver Spring, Maryland back when I lived in Baltimore.

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 10-11-2005 at 08:35 PM

I like the new record. It's not THAT different from "Shaved For Battle" despite the Euro shit as my man Jason said, I like it. If any of you guys have Soulseek, you can download it from me. Let me know and I'll pm you my user name.

gavin - 10-12-2005 at 02:09 AM

brooklyn - 10-12-2005 at 12:22 PM

A copy of ONE MAN ARMY will be going out to both of you either today or tomorrow. I hope you like it!

DeathByForce - 10-13-2005 at 10:45 PM

I put that up one torrent a while back and no one touched it.:o

XHonusWagnerX - 10-15-2005 at 09:31 AM

I've had it for over a year now, but just because I did backing vocals on it. I like it a lot. I know I'm a biased opinion, but I really think that most of the songs are awesome. "Bored, Bored, BoredK kinda sucks, but I like the rest!

i got my copy today, thanks again Honus
its defintely a little different from the 1st album, but still good.
so far i like it alot.
it really sucks its not released in the US,
glad i got an oppurtunity to hear it.

XHonusWagnerX - 10-20-2005 at 08:18 AM

Im glad you got it and glad you liked it. Its a really good record. Some of the songs sound like they could be pretty big 'punk rock hits' if the band worked and got the right lable push.

tireironsaint - 10-25-2005 at 08:13 PM

I got mine Saturday and just had time to finally check it out. Let me put it this way, I'm just about finished with my third time through the whole disk in a row and there's not a single song I'm feeling needs to be skipped on my next time through (which will be in a minute, just as soon as it ends).

Thanks a ton, Honus, you rule.

tireironsaint - 10-25-2005 at 08:22 PM

Just re-read this thread and wanted to mention that I actually think this may be a better record than Shaved For Battle and it doesn't really have as much of a different feel as I expected from some of the comments here. I definitely don't get the feeling that they were tryin' to appeal to the Euro crowd or cash in at all. It definitely has an American Oi sound even if they do cover some hooligan themes in some songs.
