Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

My Ramallah thread (Thanks Thorp!)

I got the Ramallah CD in the mail yesterday for being the message board poster of the month. It came with an awesome poster too. Thanks to Duane & everyone at Thorp!

I hadn't even heard one song off the CD until I got it last night. I have only listened to it 2 times though and I will definitly be listening A LOT more, but I have what may be an unpopular opinion. I will hold it in reserve until I give it a few more days.

I was holding out for the whole CD at once. Basicly my opinion after 2 listenings is that I like Whimper better because the songs on the new one all seem to sound similar in style/sound/tempo. So listening to it straight through it blended together. I am a HUGE fan of everything that Rob does and I think hes an amazing song writer so Im sure my opinion will change, but that was my first impression.

Awhile back I caught flack for saying that the mastering of the Serenity record was bad. The songs are all at differant volumes and when I pointed it out I got scolded and told ITS HARDCORE ITS NOT ABOUT PRODUCTION! Sorry!

Ok.... So after countless listens, most of them back to back to back, I love the new Ramallah. I think that the whole thing is great. There's some songs I like better than others, but there are none that I don't like.

I will say that "bye bye" has possibly made its way onto my list of "favorite songs of al time" I love how Rob puts a poppy twist on songs about death, suicide, molestation etc.

Two thumbs up!

Good posting ;)

I think my least favorite track has to be "Brother Malcom". I like the song, it's well done.... but it is my least favorite on the cd. I don't think it is nearly as strong as most of the other tracks.

i'm inclined to agree with you on "brother malcom". i think it's because of its place in the track listing. it's between "oscar cotton" and "the horror and the gag," and while it's still a good song, those are considerably better songs. that's my reasoning anyway.
