Ian Robinson from MTV is poor & in Allston, MA....

XHonusWagnerX - 10-12-2005 at 02:40 PM

Ian Robinson the "Metal Guy" from MTV & MTV2 applied for a job at the Newbury Comics Warehouse in Brighton, MA last week. They gave him an interview and tour just like they give everyone else that applies there. The job he was applying for "CD TAGGER" pays at the most $12-$13 an hour and thats only if they took his 'star status' into account. He took the job and was supose to start this past Monday, but aparently he had applied for a job at the postoffice and he got that so he called Newbury to say that he wouldnt be taking the job. What a bummer!

I remember seeing his apartment on cribs on MTV awhile ago and he had a huge toy collection and a very good record collection. He was the host of Headbangers Ball for gods sake! Even Ricki Rachman turned that into success!

Anyone in that area keep an eye out for him. Aparently he lives somewhere in 'lower Allston' so Im sure he will be around. If your not sure if its him or not, he has a huge "Emperors Royal Guard" tattooed on his forearm as well as a bunch of other Star Wars tattoos.

that guy is a douche

clevohardcore - 10-12-2005 at 03:07 PM

Wow. Life works in strange ways. I wish I could get hired by the Post Office. Thats a good job to come by. That Union is strong.

IAN GET ME A JOB WITH THE POST OFFICE! :D

BDx13 - 10-12-2005 at 03:17 PM

The ONLY thing I've ever seen this guy do aside from MTV is a few in-house Apple promo videos. He was basically walking around the Apple store in Soho talking about how great making music on a mac is.

Voodoobillyman - 10-12-2005 at 03:33 PM

that guy is a douche, without MTV he has no hope of ever getting laid again

gavin - 10-12-2005 at 03:38 PM

rennie told me dude has been around forever
he had a radio show that played hardcore back in the day when no one cared
i say if thats the case, cut dude a break

clevohardcore - 10-12-2005 at 03:44 PM

I heard he does have cred. I guess. I never met him but I guess he's down with some people. I have no idea, but at least he's hustling for a job.

I agree. I think its funny that he was going to price CDs for Newbury Comics, but I dont think hes a douche. His record collection when he was on cribs had some good stuff in it and I have no doubt that hes been into hardcore/punk for a long time.

Voodoobillyman - 10-12-2005 at 03:57 PM

nah......in my humble opinion.........douche, just because you like "hardcore" and even because you may have been around "the scene" when no one cared, does not make you instantly "cool". Not trying to insult, just think the guy looks like a douche.

i just meant he's more whatever then that tool riki rackman

CR83 - 10-12-2005 at 04:28 PM

I remember that Cribs Episode. He had some mad ass toys. He had every Simpson figure. He also had three Metallica band member figures and not Lars. He made it a point to show everyone that he didn't have a Lars figure. I gues he thinks Lars is a dick. Oh well...

i was right then
i do indeed rule

crazyfists28 - 10-12-2005 at 06:52 PM

i give him credit for sort of being the voice on mtv that tried to bring back metal/hardcore for awhile. seeing all his records and music in general made me appreciate that he was on tv tring to get something other than what was being played get noticed...sucks that his status has run out and is back to reality but join the club...

I remember when he used to get fan letters saying "why are you playing *insert shitty band* on this show".

That guy looked into the camera and said something along the lines of "You think I want this stuffed played on the show, of course not, but it isn't up to me"

It was either one of the late night shows/or mtv2 even.

*edit - that might have been after mtv now that I thought about, cause he wouldn't be able to say that on air.

JawnDiablo - 10-12-2005 at 08:01 PM

funnier than any of this:
Jeff Labar, who was the lead guitar player in the glam metal band Cinderella delivered pizza to my house one night...He is a local...

I also hear one of the GWAR dudes lives nearby and makes miniture figurines in this little warehouse in Clifton Heights, PA for a living.

gavin - 10-12-2005 at 08:07 PM

jeff labar blew all his $ on blow and lives, or at least did until a few years ago, with his parents again
HA

KyleOz - 10-12-2005 at 08:10 PM

"You spin me right round baby right round like a record player right round right round" Cinderella?

That video always creeped me out when I was a youngster

no man
that was dead or alive
cinderella was a glam metal band in the 80s
they sang such gems as "shake me" and some other crap
the pats chili dogs commercial for one

KyleOz - 10-12-2005 at 09:05 PM

That song sucked, I know who you are talking about now, though vague. I actually remember heartbreak station better.

Killthehumans - 10-12-2005 at 09:18 PM

are you serious? i live in burlington...did he really?

Killthehumans - 10-12-2005 at 09:18 PM

shit i didnt read the rest

clevohardcore - 10-13-2005 at 12:20 AM

I thought his name was Tom Keefer or something. Maybe thats the singer. NIGHT SONGS was a good tape. they had some heavy riffs for a glam band. I guess he .....didn't know what he had till it was gone... huh? :P

clevohardcore - 10-13-2005 at 12:22 AM

thats almost as bad as the guitar player from WARRANT owning a bar in lakewoood, Ohio near Cleveland and having Jani Layne the singer work in the kitchen cooking wings. Dude was a alcoholic that would not quit. Now I guess he's on some tv show and straightened out but damn that was pretty sad to watch.

defstarsteve - 10-13-2005 at 01:42 AM

before he got back into slayer dave lombardo was delivering pizza
most of the musicians on this board will agree if there is no new record out and no tour going, you got the bills still coming in...
as for the topic of mr duche...
he was a fat bald little prick in my few encounters with him...

You think that you can come around and act like on of us
Just because you're in the scene
Doesn't mean that you can hang around

XHonusWagnerX - 10-13-2005 at 08:29 AM

I cant beleive that Dave Lombardo doesnt make enough money off royalties for some of the best metal records of all time and he had to deliver pizza. Plus he had that other band Grip Inc. at the time.

The people like Warrent or Cinderella that ended up with shitty jobs is just because they are morons. They all made enough money and if they would have invested or saved at least a LITTLE they wouldnt be cooking wings or delivering pizza.

Voodoobillyman - 10-13-2005 at 11:09 AM

Thanks for backing me up on this Defstar..............like I said, douche. Matt Pinfield was cooler than that tub of shit. Jamey jasta sucks on the ball too, it's all terrible and his ass is so deadpan.

JawnDiablo - 10-13-2005 at 11:20 AM

I used to see that one cinderella dude in the guitar shop in the bazaar as a kid....

I'll try to find the interview with him where he said it...
he said it was after the 2nd grip record, and he wasn't even getting session work at the time....
we has sitting in his car delivering pizza and was WTF I was in Slayer...
got his shit straight after that doing fantomas and got back in slayer
